Q: Was about to enter positions in these names but they all took off 5 percent or greater after earning release. Would you wait for them to settle before starting a position? Other then a major market correction when is the best time to buy?

Q: My portfolio is somewhat light on consumer discretionary companies and I see that you favour this sector at the present time. Could you please explain your current support for the sector and suggest a few Canadian and American companies that you believe are fair value with solid growth prospects for the future. As always, I thank you for your appreciated opinions.

Q: Hi Guys,

Inside my portfolio, my consumer cyclical weighting is over 20%, please rate best to worst;
GIL, MG, BYD.UN, TOY, AYA, CCL & NFI and on the U.S.A. side we have GPC, DIS & HD.
I would like to lower the % to 15%.
thanks,

Jim

Q: I just saw my daughter's TFSA and she is down 31%, with the above stocks well in the negative. The only positive stocks were the 3 we recommended to her from 5-I; CGX, PHO and SIS! Would you recommend selling these stocks and moving on? If so, any suggestions would be welcome. She has a cash balance in the account of 9,000.00 and she is down around 11,500.00 at the moment. Thanks for any help you can provide. We have been very pleased with our progress since we joined 5-I! Lesley

Q: After holding on through all the volatility, I now have 9.5% of my portfolio in AYA (an average of 100% gain). Given the news since your update review, do you feel AYA will hold on to its gains and do you still rate this as a B+ ? Although I like the idea of sticking with winners, I suspect it would be prudent to pare back (or eliminate??) my holding. I have many of your BE portfolio picks as well as some from your Growth, but none are at a full position. Currently, I hold AYA shares in TFSA, RSP and Unregistered accounts. Your thoughts/suggestions would be much appreciated on what (if any) % to keep holding and what to do for replacement. Many thanks as always.

Q: Based on available historical data, the above have compounded earnings > 10%. I intend to put these good companies into a RRIF to boost the return of a mostly bond/gic content.

In your opinion would you regard each of the above as a good company that should be able to provide a relatively stable future annual return of 8% to 10% with the exception of a market meltdown. Looking for some reassurance regarding the picks. Thank you.
