Q: Hi 5i Team - I sometimes hear about the amount of money waiting on the sidelines for possible investments in the equities markets. Do you have an idea of what this might be in the U.S. or Canada or even globally. Also would you consider it a significant amount. Thanks.

Q: Hi there,
I've been digging into a few of the Fidelity funds which have seemed to perform well over the short, medium and longterm. What are your thoughts about the follow funds and if you were going to build an asset allocation using one or a selective mix of the funds, how would you go about doing so? Also, can you please provide any insights on the different classes of mutual funds available? I believe F and F5 are available to DIY investors.

Fidelity Canadian Large Cap Fund
Fidelity Canadian Opportunities Fund
Fidelity Greater Canada Fund
Fidelity Special Situations Fund
Thanks!

Q: Hi Guys
I would like some Emerging Markets exposure, After listening to Jeffery Gundlach and Felix Zulauf ( both very smart guys) they agree China is now totally uninvestable.
My problem is i own ZEM for my emerging markets exposure which has about 30% China.
There is EMXC which i could buy instead which excludes China, but holds about 20% exposure to Taiwan.
What would be your strategy?
Thanks Gord

Q: Dear 5i friends,
Your market report on December 13 is simply excellent!
Monthly reports are very interesting taken in isolation, but the synthesis of the four reports in the past year put in a perspective like this is a real eye opener.
Thank you very much.

Q: How much emphasis do you guys place on companies cash flow statement when much of the cash from operations is a result of adding back Depreciation &amortization, plus stock based compensation. Seems kind of misleading to me.
Thanks Gord
Thanks Gord

Q: if you would buy one bond etf in canada for growth, growth being the key word which one would it be. dave
Q: Can you give any information about algorithm trading? I have heard that it makes up between 65-75% of all daily trading. It seems like BNN and others barely mention it. Do they think that it might scare investors to know how much control algos seem to have on the markets. Thanks for any enlightenment that you can give me as well as others
Q: Over the next two years or so, at least to the end of the current situation, is it best to use new money to buy dividend stocks for total return rather than growth stocks or ETFs???........Tom
Q: Hello,
For my pension with my employer, we have limited options with respect to investments. I intend to allocate a portion of my assets to ''Manulife Canadian Real Estate Fund'' (code 9575 / MCREA). Assets of $1.2B Return 1year 17% 2 year 20% 3 year 13%. I have a few questions:
- Can you find the breakdown for the asset allocation: multiresidential, office, industrial, etc. and does it include real estate development? (the information I find and that I was provided is very limited)
- On a scale 1 to 10, how risky is this investment for a 15 year time horizon?
- Can it be considered fixed income in a portfolio?
- How big of a position would you recommend vs total investment assets / portfolio? (% range would be appreciated).
-Returns seem high for the last few years. Can you please provide some comments / insigths?
My level of risk is typically average and I have a long term horizon. I just want to make sure I properly estimate the overall risk of the fund.
Thank you for your help.
