Q: Hi,
This is more a big picture question.
For several decades the concept of "Inter-market Analysis" had high "currency" value. Simplistically summarized thus: Stocks go up and bonds go down. Inflation goes up so does Gold. US goes down and Emerging markets go up etc.,
That idea seems to be dead now. It appears that having a long and short position even within sectors seems to be popular. Or the correlation exists still but with different asset classes. For eg., inflation and Bitcoin are now linearly correlated!
Or Bitcoin and Gold are negatively correlated! (Bitcoin hit another record today>50 k and Gold went down below 1800$!!)
Should one really forget about fundamentals and enroll in classes for Options trading strategy?

Q: Hi, how often should we look to high grade our portfolios? For example, in many questions you rank stocks and today in a previous question you ranked these stocks in the tech sector - CRWD, NVDA, TTD, SHOP, LSPD, TEAM, KXS, PLTR, TOI, MITK, DOCU, AVLR.
If I currently already own SHOP, LSPD, KXS and DOCU, should I look to high grade from DOCU/KXS into CRWD/NVDA/TTD since these should show higher growth? Can you shed some more light around your process and how we can best manage quality in our personal portfolios. Thanks!

Q: Hi Gentlemen . I am trying to learn to use and better understand the tools available here on your website. Let's say I type in a stock to view. Example: AC. Then, from the drop down box I click on "view AC profile".
When I scroll down to the Analysts recommendations box I notice currently there are 3 lines of different colours. Dark green - strong buy Light Green - moderate buy Yellow -Hold . So are these 5i Analysts? and which line should I pay most attention too? The highest one? I would appreciate some assistance in clarifying the lines shown and the degree of importance they play when I am doing my homework here. Thanks, John

Q: Janet Yellen - Federal Reserve - talking about taxing unrealized capital gains - year after year even if you have not sold. Your opinion on this. Now that everyone including young people I know are getting information through Reddit and buying all these risky plays, i.e. Koss, and Gamestop are making a lot of money for new people in the market. Will there be enough to go around for people who just want to buy safe stocks and hold on to them for a period of time? Most of my stocks in this area have gone a fair amount over the past while, whereas these highly promoted risky and shorted stocks - seemed to be skyrocketing and more money will gravitate to them. Your opinion on that?

Q: In your opinion how will these short squeeze situations affect the markets going forward? Will we never see such a large percentage of the float being shorted again? Surely any company that experiences a 100% float will be the next target of a reddit campaign.

It could also be looked at from the other side. Any company with a high percentage of shares sold short could experience buyers trying to preemptively predict reddit forums from doing it first. Has this situation permanently changed short selling?

Q: Hi 5i,

You have mentioned that the US retail investors are speculating BB's operating system for autos may become the industry.
What exactly is the social media stock boards Redditt and RobinHood do you mentioned? How can they able to push up or down the stock price? Just like a large group of gamblers doing mass trading without any fundamental analysis? Would you please kindly advise and explain in detail? Thanks a lot.

Q: Hi 5i Team - It is my understanding that most of the Canadian start-up technology companies are going with private funding rather than public, resulting in a scarcity of technology companies to invest in on the TSX or Vancouver Exchange. First, could you comment on the accuracy of this assessment. Secondly do you know of any such companies that are available to the general public for investment or may be planning an IPO over the next year. This would not include more established companies such as LSPD, KXS or of course SHOP. Thanks again for all your advice over the years. Your service has been invaluable over these years and continues to be so.
