Q: Hi Team,

I am holding some cash that I intend to hold for 12 -15 months at which time I will be closing on some real estate and will need the money. Do you have any recommendations for a safe 12-15 month hold for these funds where there is still some opportunity for a modest return?

Q: Is the Buffett Indicator of any value today. Meaning if it goes above 180% should you rethink your momentum stocks and reduce margin? Buffett indicates that above 200% is dangerous and 120% is now normal. Have these numbers been adjusted in recent years due to quantitative easing and now that the feds have reduced quantitative easing should they be tightened? What do you feel the new normal range is with the feds hawkish change? I know timing the market is never good, but I think reducing margin and removing the gasoline at times should be considered.

Q: Hi,

I know sometime ago there was an article about "asset location" by you or a guest writer either here or in CMS? Can you direct me to the appropriate link?
There was some "confusion" amongst the members of our investment group which stocks/ETFs are best held is what account!! TFSA/RRSP/Non Registered/ RESP etc.,
The most tax efficient way one can allocate the stocks/ETFs.

Much appreciated.

Q: Hi, sent this question to i5Research on Jan 09 & as of yet have not received an answer. Am wondering if it got lost in the queue. Does 5iResearch think now is a good time to invest in copper? What would you recommend as a better investment, a copper mining company or a copper processing company? In each of those categories what two or three companies would you recommend. Thanks … Cal

Q: So I read in the G&M that household savings are at record numbers ; some $ 300 billion , twice the average of the last 2 years , yet I understand that Canadians are in debt to an unprecedented degree. How can this be ? The savers and debtors must be not the same person. Personally, I believe the boomers will come to the rescue of the many indebted GenX and Millennials by passing their sizeable assets over upon their last gasp.
Any thoughts ?

Q: Hi! The tech rout continues this morning. I previously was able to trade this rotation when it happened in 2021 and they seemed quite short lived. This feels a little more permanent because of the imminent end of tapering and lift off of rates. Impossible to predict, but do you see this rotation as lasting longer than the others in 2021 and if so is it too early to start nibbling at some beaten up names like SHOP and NVEI and GSY?

Also, I'm not sure why GSY is getting thrown out lately. Good valuation with good earnings and a recession doesn't seem likely.

Thanks,
Jason

Q: I regularly use Globe Investor some terminology used by professionals on these sites and TV require some explanation. For instance, i.e. Trade Desk just as an example, the price/earnings (TTM) 142.2; earnings per share (TTM) 0.57;
Doing my math the share price 79.00 @ 11:00 a.m. divided by 0.57 = 138.59
Am I right you would be paying 138.59? Above I said the PE was 142.2 doing my math would the PE now be 138.59? I realize every move in the stock price changes the PE slightly.
Another frequently used termination is free cash flow. Please explain. I know I have the right people to explain the above.
Thank you

Q: Hi All:
I have a generic TFSA question. My TFSA is ~$147K; my wife is at ~$140K
Not all my stocks choices are winners but sometimes in the past I have NOT taken my profit off the table. ie sold some of my winners to reinvest in other upcoming potential winners. We all get the $6K starting in 2022, but I would like your thoughts on transferring in kind some shares from our TFSA's into our open account. ie: the ones that have gained 70 to 80%. My thoughts are that this would give me more room to transfer $$$ from our open account in 2022, that are presently losses I think are still potential stocks that could go up, thereby giving us some tax free gains.

Is this game to dangerous or just plain stupid.

I hope you all have an enjoyable and well deserved Xmas time off. Ken.... :-)
