Q: I have been monitoring the above list of stocks. I have some cash to deploy in the names. Can you please list the above names in your preferred order to purchase them. Which ones you like the best? Should I wait for tax loss selling season to see more pressure on the names. Thank you for your opinion.

Q: Hello 5i,

I currently hold these stocks in an unregistered account. I have journaled over the five companies into a US account for the dividend. I would like to add possibly two more companies that pay their dividend in US funds. I have the rest of the balanced fund and some growth in my TFSA. Any suggestions to add here, and if it results in duplication, what would you remove from the list. I am well balanced and would likely have to sell at least one current stock and could just add the other if you can give me two. Was looking at Nutrien or AQN. Didn’t pull the trigger on AQN last year at 12.5.

Thanks for the assist.

Q: Greetings 5i

I have made a tidy profit in CCL.B over the past few years and I now realize I let it grow too large in my cash account. Recently, of course, CCL has been sliding down. My holding in it now amounts to 5.2% of my total Canadian cash account. Conversely, I have SLF that has being doing well but now stands at 7.4% which I realize is too high.

What weighting should I aim for with both SLF and CCL in a cash account that I am working on getting into proper focus and balance?

Two questions.Please deduct appropriate credits.

Thanks

Peter

Q: Hello 5i,
I need to increase the following: ABBVIE, CCL, AQN. ENB. LSPD. and TCL. Some like LSPD I hold as a satellite as I am mostly a value investor but will take advantage of your suggestions on a good growth opportunity but smaller scale than my value equities. Please list the above in the order that I would slowly increase these holdings by $2,000 at a time.
thank you
Stanley

Q: I have half positions in each of these four companies and cash to deploy to bring some to full positions. In which order (best candidate first) would you proceed?

Q: Is there an overly compelling reason to own CCL.b today? Its missed earnings 4 out of the last 6 reports and in conjunction with its earnings misses the shares have topped out at $67 a few times since June 2017.

With its current earnings estimates, $2.85 in 2019 and $3.09, in 2020, against the backdrop of probability, how likely do you think CCL.b shares see a 10% increase within the next 12 months?

Thanks again.

Q: Hi 5i
According to the Portfolio Analytics, I should be reducing my exposure to consumer cyclical stocks from 15% down to 10% of my overall portfolio, and I agree I should reduce 3-5%. I currently have MG-3%, CCL.B-4.5%, BYD.UN-4.5%, GIL-2% and the big laggard TSGI-only 1% of my portfolio now.
I'm considering selling TSGI (50% loss) as I'm getting fed up with it, in addition to one of either GIL or MG. What is your opinion on this approach, and would you sell GIL or MG at this time? I'd also like to hear if you would advise a different approach to reducing my exposure. Thanks very much!

Q: Further to my prior question about allocating stocks to multiple sectors, how would you assign the following? I know this is 'not a science', but I think it will give me a better idea of my sector distribution.
TCL.A Cons Disc:Industrial
CCL.B Cons Disc:Industrial
NFI Cons Disc:Industrial
MG Cons Disc:Industrial
LNR Cons Disc:Industrial
TFII Cons Disc:Industrial
EIF Industrial:Financial
AQN Utilities:Energy
EMA Utilities:Energy
MX Mining:Energy
T Telecom:Healthcare
PSK Mining:Financial
TRI Financial:Cons Disc

If you think that other sectors should be included here, please add them.
Thanks again, and please deduct questions as you see fit.

Q: I've been reading a lot lately about planned or enacted bans on plastic bags, plastic straws, plastic cutlery, etc. I'm curious are there any publicly traded Canadian companies that manufacture this stuff and if so what effect will this have for sales and profits of those companies?

Q: Hi Guys,

If one believes that the Canadian dollar is about to strengthen over the coming year, what are good ways to take advantage of that?

Am I correct in that my non-hedged ETFs such as VGRO and XAW would come under pressure? Are there any companies that would meaningfully benefit from a stronger Canadian dollar?
