Q: Have you warmed up to OWL since your March 2025 comment? OWL currently rates a strong buy in the financial sites I have access to. If your views are unchanged, do you have another private equity-cum-asset manager that you favor? OWL seems to have stronger, favorable buy ratings than BX, or CG. If not OWL, would you prefer Apollo and why.

Q: BN is sitting at 7.5%, AXON - BKNG are 5% and the rest are 3% positions totaling approx. 83% of my stock assets. I have some 1-2% positions in my cash account (GSY, ATZ, PRL, CLBT, HPS.a, BNS,SU, TMDX, TVK and CNQ. I'm heavy tech, financials and industrials going into H2 2025. Would you add to, remove or change anything is this was your account (assuming you're 52 and plan to retire in 8 years). Not looking for a person allocation but rather if it was you, what might you be looking to adjust, if anything. Note I have no utilities currently. Thanks and have a great weekend.

Q: Hello all,
I am helping aid my young adult children in developing a portfolio of strong companies that pay a dividend. They were not comfortable buying during the VIX 30-50 range so they have not benefited from the recent rebound.
They are looking at holding any of these positions for 5 years (when they may need to liquidate a bit for a down payment on a property)
Please note, the American equities would be CDRs and hedged.
Here are my questions:
What entry point/range would you be comfortable buying any of these securities listed?
Do you recommend half positions in any of them at this time? Please list.
Taking into account the time frame, are there any companies you would recommend not buying?
Are there any sectors (with a particular security) which perhaps I should consider that is not on my list?
Please mention if there are other securities that might be better in satisfying the stated objective.
Do you forsee any problems with this approach and do you recommend something else to help offset anything?
I know that you don't have a crystal ball but your opinion is appreciated.
Please take as many credits as required.
Respectfully,
Arturo

Q: A Market Call guest stated Brookfield's annualized return was 18% over 30 years leading me to wonder if there was a way to calculate such a number by including the number of spinoffs which have been many. Can you confirm or deny the 18% claim?

Q: The impending big ugly Republican bill is supposed to increase the witholding taxes for Canadians, on certain companies.
According to the Globe ("Trump’s new bill threatens major tax increases for Canadian companies", by Clare O’Hara and Rudy Mezzetta, May 22, 2025), this would include, "Canadian corporations that receive dividends from U.S. subsidiaries" and "Canadian individuals who own U.S. securities directly". This tax would rise to 50 percent from 5% and 15% respectively.
Though I do not depend on dividend income, I do own a couple of securities which I am wondering about:
Brookfield Corp: A company based in Canada but which is trying to become based in the US. Though this has a small USD yield, would it be affected?
Purpose US Cash High Interest ETF: This pays interest in USD on USD but is a Canadian company. Would this interest be affected by this bill?
Can you name some companies in particular that would be hit hard by this?
Lastly, I wonder if our pension plans, like CPP, HOOPP, etc would be affected significantly and how would they respond? Any insight on that?
Thanks as always.

Q: Hello 5i Team, I'm quite overweight CSU and was thinking about trimming some (or lots). I've held CSU since 2014 and think it might be time to reduce my exposure. If you were given a blank sheet and could pick 5 quality US and 5 quality Canadian names; which would they be?
Thank you Brent

Q: Hi Team,
Over the past several years, as a general rule, one of the best buying opportunities seems to be buying quality, best in breed companies while they are down. Stocks such as NVDA, META, SHOP, BN, CRWD come to mind here where in the past we have seen significant sell offs but the quality names always seem to recover. My question is, are we witnessing this type of opportunity right now with UNH? In reality the name has been a steady eddy, reliable grower in the sector for years. Now...it loses over half it's market cap in a month? In my un-professional opinion this seems much too extreme to me for a company of this magnitude, with a long track record of success, and seemingly huge moat in the US. Is it time to start picking away at buying this name, collecting the now near 3% dividend, and sitting on it for the longer term? Collecting the div and having the name recover in say 3 years would calculate to a quite lucrative return. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Shane.

Q: I was under impression from your answers on BN and BAM that BN would outperform BAM in share price since BAM pays a dividend. Looking at both stocks the opposite is happening. BAM is outperforming BN and even more so when the div is included. Could you confirm? If my observation is correct could you explain how this is happening? Again, if i am correct and BN was your holding, would you switch to BAM? At this point i am not looking for a div so i would be fine with dripping. Is there a possibility of this trend reversing? I guess i could own both. what would be the split ratio that would reflect the relationship between BN and BAM that you would suggest?
