Q: A tax question which might not be your expertise, but anyway here goes.
A Limited Partnership, such as BEP.UN, is this treated as a separate category for capital gains and losses from "normal" equities? Example: if I sold BEP.UN in the future for a loss, could I claim that loss against my other "normal" equities capital gains? Are there any other tax issues regarding holding units in a LP such as BEP.UN? I have yet to receive any tax slips for BEP.UN, T5013 or anything, from my broker. Is this very late receipt of slips for an LP usual? Thanks for your thoughts.

Q: Southern Investigative Reporting Foundation recently issued a report that questioned Brookfield Asset management 's corporate structure and accounting methods, This. it seems, has prompted a sell-off in the shares and a number of their subsidiaries. BEP.un is currently included in your Model Portfolio. The shares continue to trend down and in view of the recent report are you still comfortable with keeping these shares in your Model Portfolio?

Q: I am somewhat confused by your A rating for BEP.UN. I undertand it is a solid, safe company with a reasonable distribution. Using your charts, you show it as having had a 4.0% gain and producing a 4.0% yield. However, when I compare it with the other A and A- stocks from your ratings that I also own (BAD, BYD.UN, CSU, ESL, and STN) it is substantially inferior on a relative basis. That being so, why does it have the same rating as those stocks. I am going to select the private option, but if you think it would be useful for othes to see your answer, feel free to make your answer public.
