Q: Can you rank the stocks best to worst in your opinion. These are the stock s that are in my utilities sector which is 3% of my current portfolio. Would you add, swap or remove any of them? My portfolio holdings/thoughts are very similar to your BE Portfolio.

Q: You have indicated a recent buying preference of BIP over BE. I notice that the analysts predict a 10% price reduction for BIP in 2017 but stable for BEP. Does this affect your preference?

Q: Hi,
I'm young and have good income, good risk tolerance and no need to withdrawal any of my investment dollars anytime soon. I'm looking for long term growth mostly. Currently I hold the listed stocks, do you see any names that jump out as really bad/ should sell? Is anything really lacking and maybe should be added? Right now everything is held in a tfsa.

Q: Over the past two years I have acquired all three of the above companies and they now (together) comprise 10% of my portfolio. Do you see any problems with this? My portfolio is well diversified.

Q: Do all four of these have dividends that are taxed differently and therefore shouldn't be in a non-registered? Does this apply to a TFSA as well, as foreign income I believe is taxed in a TFSA?

Where should I hold each of these? in an RRSP, TFSA or non-registered?

Q: My son is currently 39 years old and is trying to develop a solid diversified portfolio. All of his holdings are in his RRSP except for some money in a Tangerine International growth fund which is in his TFSA. He has some new funds to add to his holdings. Could you please recommend some companies from your model portfolios that would add more diversification to his portfolio keeping in mind his relatively long investment horizon. As always, thanks for your advice.

Q: I hold the above companies (pretty much at equal weights) in my Utilities portfolio. I need to trim because I am overweight in the sector. Perhaps I should reduce the number of holdings by 1 full position. May I please have your opinion. Thank you.

Enjoyed your BNN show and picks as always!
I am reasonably balanced in my RSP with your positions in your growth and balanced portfolios but now, at age 68 have to convert my RSP to RIF in a few years. I am considering transferring most "in Kind" and would be looking at 10-20 stocks to hold that are good income generators. Would you consider listing 10 good stocks to continue to hold in a RIF ?
Should I try and hold more "conservative" dividend growers ?
Would you suggest I sell to cash and purchase larger positions of the financials, for example; or is it better to stay balanced?

Complicated question but I appreciate the advice as I have done quite well from you previous guidance

Q: Re: Ian's earlier question - I have held both for several years in taxable accounts and have never had any issues getting the tax forms (T5013) on time. Complexity comes from the fact that the Distributions are not "Dividends" but include elements of Foreign Income, Interest, Return of Capital as well as Eligible Divs.....so tax hit is different than a dividend that qualifies for the DTC. This changes each year and and the T5013 lays all this out quite clearly. If you would like to get a breakdown of the elements of each historical distribution - there is also good summary on each of the firms websites. I am a very happy shareholder of both!

Q: I Have BEP.UN, and BPY.UN which have gone sideways for me in the last year, I also have BIP.UN which has done very well.
I am thinking of selling BEP and BPY and buying BAM.A with proceeds. Is this a good switch.

Q: I have both Enbridge and Brookfield Renewable in my portfolio. Would it be advantageous to move to one or the other? It seems that Enbridge is setting itself up quite nicely for long term growth and income and looks to be a real good buy and hold. BEP is no slouch either. Please let me know your analysis, much appreciated, thanks!
