Q: I have investments in the listed Investment Trusts for income.
With the problems in the Retail Sector (Sears, The Bay, etc), and the growth of on-line shopping, are the values and incomes of any these Trusts exposed?
REI.un and CUF.un have been on a steady decline.
Thank you in advance for your comments.

Q: Morning,
Would like to know if the dividend from Cominar is currently safe and your view on the stock on an income based portfolio? Would Slate Office REIT be a good replacement if Cominar is deemed too risky?
Thanks!

Q: I bought cuf.un and since then it has dropped 21%. It is 2.8% of my TFSA and pays over 11%. Is it worth keeping or should I move on? Thank you.
Q: If cominar reit cut its distribution in half , its yield would still be a healthy 5.7% yield at $12.95 a share. The AFFO payout ratio would fall to 60 %and its share price would be trading at 10X AFFO and a 25% discount to net asset value. So why are investors dumping the stock because of the high yield and temporary 100% plus payout? (my numbers are based on a %1.28 2017 AFFO from TD Waterhouse, projected to rise going forward.)
Q: I am retired and have holdings in Alaris Royalty and Cominar REIT for income in a broadly diversified portfolio, but have incurred unrealized capital losses of 12% and 6% respectively.
Should I continue to hold, sell or buy more at these levels?
Capital preservation is on my mind and are there better companies than the ones I hold?
Thanking you for your opinion

Q: With Cuf.un's downturn and payout ratio, though smaller would BTB.UN provide more stabilty in the income going forward. r
Q: What to do with cuf.un,down like a lead balloon!!!
Q: Hi Team,
Can you comment on CUF.UN with 10.42% yield, too risky to take a position?
Thanks as always,
Tak

Q: Hello,
In the real estate sector, I have a position of 7% in D.UN, and 2.5% in CUF.UN. Both positions are respectively held in my TFSA and RRSP. I would book a 15% profit over the past year if I were to sell. How important is it to be exposed directly to real estate?
What's your thought on selling to buy more growth oriented stocks since I am a young investor and don't really need the income. What would be your company suggestions? I am currently underweight in consumer defensive (3% ATD.B), industrials (3% SNC, 3% WJA) or/and could also add another position in technology (2%BB, 2%PHO, 5% OTEX, 6% KXS).
Thank you,

Q: Hello 5I Team,
I will be retiring within the next 2 years and plan to supplement my overall fixed income with dividend income to be drawn from my portfolio. I currently hold a mix of growth and income positions but will be transitioning to more of an income base. I have a good core of diversified Dividend stocks held through most of the sectors, but do not currently hold anything in REITs. I am familiar with your favourite REITS, but am looking to focus on higher yield, understanding the risks associated with this. Could I have your feedback on the following considerations, particularly towards the stability of dividend payout? As well, could you please share your thoughts towards the impact that upcoming interest rate increases may have to REITS in general? My considerations would be: Dream Global ( DRG.UN), Cominar ( CUF.UN) and Artis ( AX.UN). Thank you kindly,
Rick

Q: Hi,
I am a income investor so looking for dividends. My portfolio currently contains banks, pipelines, utilities, and telco's. I am thinking I should add some real estate to my portfolio and i was looking at MST.UN and/or CUF.UN-T. What are your thoughts on these two company's? Are there other real estate investment trusts you prefer?
Thanks,
Eileen

Q: Peter, I've been thinking of CAR.UN for a long-term hold; it yields about 4.4% But I just saw Ross Healy (who I think has a pretty good track record for conservative investors) recommend Cominar, with its 10% yield. I have no need for active income; everything will be reinvested. For a long-term hold, would you expect someone to do better overall (including distributions of course) with CAR.UN or CUF.UN? The units will be held in an RRSP. Thank you.
