Q: I’ve always had less than positive results investing in the healthcare sector. Finally I decided to go with an ETF (XHC) to do away with the individual stock picking risk which has since declined as well. I am now thinking of sticking with “healthcare adjacent” companies since SIS (currently owned) has done well for me. Can you please comment on SIA, CSH, and AND, the first two have run up a bit recently and I wonder about their valuations and future prospects. Any other candidates that might fit the bill you could recommend, I know choices in Canada are slim?

Q: Hello, Would you have 4 top picks in either of these sectors (industrials, consumer staples, consumer discretionary or health care). I am looking for large caps trading on the TSX with good long term potential. Thank you.

Q: Hello 5i,
So, retired, dividend-oriented investor looking to add to Healthcare in Canada for a RRIF. Our primary healthcare holding is a full position in HHL, for the yield. P.A. indicates that we are overweight U.S. and need to increase our Canadian holding while healthcare is underweight.
We were considering CSH.UN, but it seems to be classed as a REIT (real estate is also overweight), so that doesn't seem to be an option. The 2 remaining choices seem to be either SIA or EXE, both seeming somewhat problematic.
Since the latest questions I could find on either SIA or EXE date back to last fall, could you update your analysis on these two equities with a view to whether either would be a suitable investment for us and whether the dividends appear safe for the foreseeable future?
And, finally, are there any other suitable Canadian healthcare options that pay a dividend?
Where there is nothing suitable in Canada, my thought was to return to ABBV and suck up the geographical imbalance. Thoughts?

As always, many thanks for your awesome service!!! It is very much appreciated!
Thanks,
Cheers,
Mike

Q: I was looking to sell CSH.UN and buy either CAR.UN or IIP.UN because of its high payout ratio but I didn't because it started showing momentum. I recently heard on BNN that most reits have a high payout ratio so I wondered if I am being overly cautious.

Can I get your opinion on CSH.UN. should I be concerned about its high payout ratio? Would you sell it and buy one of the other reits.
I own all 3.
thanks

Q: I am considering adding to current positions in these companies. I know timing is impossible to predict but which of these companies would you be adding to now and which would you wait given that we are heading in to end of year selling<

Thanks

Q: I have heard mention made, generally negative, of "external management" in reference to income trusts. I am curious about your expert opinion on this subject with speciic reference to DIR.UN and CSH.UN.
Thank you for your thoughts, Bill

Q: Good morning 5i, I'm looking to top up the following stocks in my portfolio. Can you rank them by timely buys first ( always looking for a deal) while being cognizant of dividends and growth. Your help is much appreciated.

Q: I have been fortunate to come into a windfall of cash from a relative, and I am interested in taking new positions in the following securities with this new cash. Please note, my existing portfolio is fairly well diversified across all sectors in North America.

Can I please get your long-term opinion on these new securities I wish to invest in. Do you see any issues with respect to these investment choices? I have money to invest and feel the urge to plunge into the market at this time.

CSH.UN, MRC, ALA, MPCT.UN, TRP, CVS, LIFE.U, TEVA

Thanks

George

Q: This question concerns Healthcare in a well-diversified Canadian portfolio (~30 holdings), focused slightly toward growth. Our target is for a 5% weight in this sector.

Currently, we only hold CSH.UN at a loss. We are open to selling it outright and replacing it with 1 or more of your favourites or topping it up and adding at least 1 growth-oriented suggestion. I understand from a previous question that CSH.UN has performed in a close range with REITs, which have adequate representation in our portfolio.

What would be your top picks in Healthcare for long term holds (5+ years)? How would you rate them (1-10, 10 being best) for new money today?

How would you proceed? Would you suggest going with 1 or 2 names? Would you suggest topping up CSH.UN and adding a 2nd name, selling CSH.UN and adding 1 or 2 new names, etc?

Thanks.

Q: Hello,

In light of the recent takeovers of WPT Industrial by Blackstone and Summit Industrial by Dream Industrial /GIC, what are your thoughts on the possibility of Chartwell being acquired? A BNN guest mentioned that Blackstone recently opened a Canadian office and has apparently hired an analyst with experience in retirement residence REITS. Please rate the probability of a takeover on 1-10 basis whereby 10 is very likely. Also, how safe is the dividend? Thanks for the great service.

Regards,
Anthony
