Q: Good morning, Peter.
Re: CPX
I own Capital Power for a little growth and a good dividend, and have seen both since I bought it last year. Latest quarter's results are not finding favor with the market but is this a situation where you just sit back and ignore the short-term noise or should the stock be a candidate for sale?
Thank you and kind regards,
Geoff

Q: Good morning,
In a RRSP acct we own CPX.PR.A (Capital Power Corp. cumulative rate reset sr 1 prd). Bought in Dec/13 at $18.49 + a 2.3% commission. It is at 20.77 now and we are being advised to sell it today. We are just about retired and the yield looks good to us for income. Would you advise selling or holding it and why? We appreciate what we are learning from 5i.
Thank you for your insights and assistance, Len

Q: Hello.
CPX Capital Power. Reading in the economist how conventional power producers in Germany got sqeezed and squitched,by the increased share of renewable energy, losing more than half their market cap in a few years, How do you view the possible impact of new solar and wind getting subsidized at the expense of established power producers. My question is specifically for CPX which has itself a small interest in wind farms. I have sent you a copy of the articles in this week Economist. Thanks.

Q: CPX announced a new rate-reset preferred today. My question is, for the fixed income side of a portfolio, do you a) consider prefs an equal alternative to bonds and b) in this case in particular, would you be better off going for the common that has a 5.8% yield today rather than rate re-set that currently has a 4.5% yield? Utilities are likely in the 7th inning right now- is either a solid long-term investment in a non-registered account? Thanks in advance.
