Q: I have a considerable position in AQN and a small position in BEP.UN. In examing the one-year performance of the three companies I calculate that AQN's stock price is flat, BEP.UN is up about 40% and NPI is up about 45%. Would you recommend selling the laggard, AQN, and investing the proceeds into one or both of NPI and BEP.UN. Also is there a company in this sector that you would prefer over these three?
With appreciation,
Ed

Q: Good Day; I'm considering a switch between my current holding of AQN (I've had for a few years and have an unrealized capital gain) and moving into NPI with the recent acquisition news. The capital gain tax consideration aside, how would you compare the growth and dividend profile between these two companies for the medium to long term future based on the recent NPI acquisition.

thanks,

Q: With the transition of gasoline/diesel engine car/truck to EV, the electricity will be consumed more and more in the near future. Do you have any idea what kind of electricity related companies will benefit from this EV transition and what do you suggest we should prepare for it regarding investment?

Thanks

Q: My question is regarding value metrics for CPX. I compared EV/Revenue for the above utilities and CPX is lowest at 4.66, followed by FTS at 5.96. FTS has the lowest P/B at 1.49; CPX is the next best at 2.00. As an income/value investor, is CPX a value diamond in the rough? I know it keeps missing estimates, but I would get a yield of about 5.5% while waiting for financial results to improve. Your comments very much appreciated.
Thanks!

Q: hello 5i:
We hold AQN and BIP.UN in the utilities space and I'd like to increase by either adding to an existing position or initiating a new position. We also hold BAM.A, so indirect exposure to BEP.UN. Using safety and valuation as the primary metrics, can you rank the stocks above?
thanks

Q: The majority of our utility holdings are in FTS /AQN, and when looking at value metrics: EV/Rev, p/b, forward p/e and yield, these 2 stocks appear to rank highest of the stocks listed above. NPI seems to be 3rd best in value, but it does have a higher p/b ratio. We also hold the following utilities in decreasing weight: BEP.UN, NPI and INE. We need to trim SU/ENB and want to add more to some or all of the latter 3 utilities - would you add the most to BEP.UN then NPI or focus on just BEP.UN? INE appears to be a bit over-valued at this time. Should we continue to hold INE, sell or add on more significant dip? We income/growth investors with 10+ year time horizon.
Thanks!!

Q: I am holding AQN, BEPC, and BLX in utilities and am considering selling AQN to purchase NPI. I’m retired and looking for safe growth with some income. Does this trade seem reasonable for a longer term?

Q: There will have to be a significant electrical buildout to facilitate a wide based conversion to EV. Everything from Power Production thru both new and upgraded Distribution to Charging Facilities and their components and other electrical elements I haven't thought of will benefit.
Who will be the biggest beneficiaries?
Will there be be clear winners in power production, presumably among renewable energy companies? What about their suppliers?
Will distribution equipment suppliers like GE and Siemens be rejuvenated? Who's best in class in their sector - one of them, Mitsubishi or?
In Electrical Distribution is there any clear leader or is it so decentralized that all the Fortis' and NEE's etc. benefit.
Will ATD.B and its competitors actually see growth in facilities and same store sales etc.
To what extent will energy storage be required and at what stage?

Thank you, Hugh
