Q: I own Premium would like to possible do one of two things add more to it or consider maple. How would you rate these two companies and where would you put your money. also open to another similar company should if you recommend one, u.s. or cdn. Thank you. Maureen
Q: I currently have MFI, PBH, ATD.B. I'm under weight in consumer non-cycl. I'm planning to add to PBH to bring it up to a 2% position. Could you recommend a US non-cycl. name you find interesting.
Q: Maple Leaf Foods took a sharp hit at the beginning of trade, but has recovered somewhat, still down 3+% as I write this. How do you feel about them moving forward?
Separately, maybe a way to reduce the sheer volume of questions on the same company on a given day, is when selecting a company from the drop-down box, if 5i already has an answer 'in the works' the member can be prompted to wait to read the new answer before submitting his/her own, could take up to 24 hours, etc.
Q: Hi, could you look at the chart for MFI, especially since March 1, 2018? It's the oddest chart. The on balance volume has been going up while the share price has been going down. My understanding is that such a trend could mean shares are being accumulated, often by a fund. Such a divergence often leads to a pop in price. Indeed, that's what happened to MFI on April 12, where it went up 3%. Then on April 13 it went back down 3%. On April 16 it was again up 3%. And today, April 17, it is back down 3%. What do you make of these observations, if anything? Thank you.
Q: Thoughts on MFI? Balance sheet is great, earnings and dividend growing at a 'decent' pace. And would it not be somewhat protected were inflation to pick up?
Q: Hi Team
what happened to Maple Leafs food ?
It dropped quite abit in the last 10 days, any news ?
would you buy it for a short term (6-9 months) or a 2 year hold ?
thanks
Michael
Q: May I get your assessment of MFI at this time. How are it's financials and growth looking after the last quarter's results? The share price has just broken above its 6 month trading range.
Q: HI Peter. Thanks for your great service. My question today is I am going to sell RBF 1340 formerly PHN bond. I would like to replace it with stocks that consistently and regularly increase their dividend for the past 5,10 ++ years. They would be inside a rrsp fund. I have a company pension and receive cpp and oas. Please suggest 5 to 6 stocks. Thanks Frank
Q: Lots of momentum behind Maple Leaf Foods. Owned them forever and sold out at $25.00. Now they are approaching $30.00. One analyst thinks they can go as high as $40 now that their restructuring is in place. How does MFI compare to Premium Brands a stock I don't own but have been watching.
Q: What is your take on this company? It's been doing well of late, but the Globe shows it at 42X forward earnings with 6.8% revenue growth and an unimpressive -.67 ROI. What am I missing?
Q: West Face capital has exited their position in MFI Maple Leaf Foods. How can one know who bought their shares, i.e. was it the McCain Family, or a mutual fund. Though the press was saying the shares tanked, they are not off by much. Wondering what's next with MFI.
Q: I was disappointed when mfi maple leaf foods reported and did not announce a special dividend from the sale of Canada bread. I sold my stock at a decent profit. I had been holding it for three years.
Now on weakness I am thinking of buying it back wondering what they will do with all that cash.
Thanks. Helen M.
