Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Good morning. Watching Saputo ease after recent annual reporting. Encouraging that there didn't appear to be much news slippage prior to the release.

Interested to know what the current forward p/e estimates are for some of the consumer defensive names including SAP, L, WN, PBH, HLF and MFI.

Also could you please rank in terms of estimated dividend growth going forward - best to least.

Thanks so much!

Q: At what point would you consider Eat Beyond? My husband and I always have a small amount of "fun" money each to buy stocks here and there. I want to invest in the plant based industry somehow. It would not be a lot of money, and I know it's a risk but just looking for your speculation. Could it possibly go up quite a lot in the next 3-5 years? Maybe after the pandemic when people can focus on their health again.. Thanks for all your help this website is a such a wealth of info.

Q: I already own premium brand and saputo. I would like to add other food companies distributing to grocery stores. Any top picks come to mind? I would prefer large cap / core holding type but would consider smaller companies based on your recommendation. Does this thesis make sense in this environment? Thank you!

Q: 5i had answered a similar question back in November, however I would appreciate it if you could revisit the question in light of today's environment. Between the Premium Brands Holdings an Maple Leaf Foods, which do you see as having better potential for growth? Is debt an issue with either?

Your answer in November had been "PBH is now bigger than MFI, is cheaper on valuation, has better growth potential, and recent earnings/outlook were far better. It would be our choice today."

Thanks!

Q: Hi, 5i Team
In the market updates email that you sent on Mar/01, you mentioned the following companies deserved a closer look:

Air Canada (AC), Lightspeed (LSPD), BRP Inc. (DOO),Maple Leaf Foods (MFI),Dollarama (DOL),Aritzia (ATZ),Gildan Activewear (GIL),
Alimentation Couche-Tard (ATD.b), Canada goose (GOOS), Descartes Systems. Group (DSG), WSP Global (WSP),

In the "5i special Opportunities Report" within the Special Market Volatility Report email sent on Mar/09, you recommended 10 stocks that were very attractive. Only WSP and DSG were also included. What do you think of the others? Is it a good time to buy them around March?
Are they also solid names worth owning especially now after some huge corrections?

Thank a lot!

Q: Jim Cramer added Tyson to his trust portfolio around $90USD arguing that the pork market in China was going to be undersupplied due to swine virus' etc. It has now pulled back to $84-85 and I am wondering what your take on it would be as a low volatility option with upside?

Perhaps compare and contrast with MFI in Canada and indicate a preference if buying only 1 and your reasons why?

Thanks!
