Q: MacDonald Dettwiler stock has been thro' quite a roller coaster ride during 2015, trading as high as $101 and touched a low of $71. Most believe this company to have a fairly unique business with niche is specialized satellite technology catering to Private/Government customers in civil and defence area. Last quarter was a bit soft due to slow satellite orders, which seems to be stabilizing if recent contract wins are any indication. You rate MDA as A- which is one of your highest ratings. I have just re entered the stock due to its dividend and capital growth prospects over next several years. What is your current opinion on this company with special comments on future growth and competition? Thanks

Q: Hi team, Just a comment. It is so frustrating....what is wrong with MDA? Nothing! But people seem to like to trade for a maximum of a week! which of course causes my gains to come at a much distant future!
Patience is good, but sometimes one doesn't have the time (read AGE) for it.
Have a nice day!

Q: Have watched this stock for quite awhile. Would you call this a good entry point and how does the backlog look for this company for the next few years? When will the report be updated on MDA? Thank You Ron
Q: I think the numbers you are referencing for MDA may be incorrect. From what I can see, MDA made $1.50 per share for Q3, 2015. The $1.41 you are referencing was for Q3, 2014.
Q: Q3 report. Comment please.
Q: I have owned CAE for a couple of years and despite winning contracts and continuing to lead the industry, the stock doesn't seem to be going anywhere (I am about break even). I am considering a switch to MDA but am wondering two things. Is MDA's risk profile substantially higher than CAE and secondly, the Canadian Stock Exchange website classifies CAE as an industrial stock and MDA as a tech stock. I have enough tech already but I would have thought these companies were actually quite similar and would have considered them both as industrials.
Your insight is always greatly appreciated

Q: Hi Guys,
As a follow up to my previous question. If you believe the numbers being reported by analysts are not correct and MDA does trade around a PE of 40,is your opinion of the company still an A? Any contemplated changes to the MDA report?
Thanks
John

Q: Hello Peter & Team,
I'd like to inform Christianne that many engineers are also very astute business people; I guess what makes a market is a bunch of people with various opinions.
Regards,
Antoine

Q: Hello 5i,
I am presently underweight the tech sector. Assuming I own equal weights AVO,DSG,GIB.A CSU and MDA which one should I add to today? Or bring a new company into the portfolio?
Many thanks, Doug

Q: What would be the catalyst to catapult MDA near to its 52 week highs of $101? I purchased a 4% position in November 2014, at $89, and rode the wave up, and then rode it back down. I'm still holding, having viewed all your recent responses to other members, within the last month, and have tried not to buy into the fear of sell offs. Is it wise to take it back up to 4% of my portfolio at this time, given the sale it's on, or should I sit tight and let it do it on its own? (I always hate to pass up a good sale, but if the shoes don't fit, and aren't likely to stretch a size or two, I wouldn't want to throw good money after bad. Thanks for your insight.
Q: MDA or ComDev for a TFSA ?
Thank you.
Thank you.
Q: HI Team. I hold MDA in a non Reg and A RRIF. I am very well diversified. Both holdings of course are way down and in the red. I planned on long term but it looks quite negative at this time. Is it worth holding? 3 to 5 years????? Much thanks for all you do for us.
Q: I had planned to add to my holdings of MDA, I would like to move it from 3% to 5% of my portfolio. However I see it has dropped significantly today, and the recent chart looks like a waterfall. I would appreciate your recommendation - should I buy now on this dip or should I wait to see where it goes from here. Do you have any information regarding today's drop?
Thank you.
Thank you.
Q: Just saw the Q2 earnings. Q2 top line looks a little light and adj EPS of $1.20 looks to be a big miss vs estimate $1.57 (I saw your response to a question on July 20 where you mentioned $1.57 estimated EPS). ROE looks to be back in the mid teens after the blip last year due to the lawsuit settlement which seems to be a good sign (if i calculated correctly). Your thoughts on the earnings?
Q: Hello 5i Team,
Checking in for an update on MDA risks as discussed in your Nov 2014 report on MDA... Is currency a factor in the current slide in MDA? What is the status of the SSL litigation with ViaSat? You note in your report on MDA that there is a large customer based out of Russia - is there an issue there?
At these levels (closed at $82.82 today), it seems like a good buy... I sold my position last year at $94 and have been looking to re-enter since then.
Thanks - so great to have you in my court! Cheers! Heather

Q: Hi Peter & Team: I have a 3.5% position in GIB.A and 6% in CSU. I am considering keeping my position in CSU, selling GIB.A to buy MDA. Do you think this is a good swap from a point of view of diversification and perhaps a better growth potential?
Q: Hey guys just a quick question. I am trying to diversify my portfolio and just recently bought MDA at $90. I know you have highly recommended this company in the past but it seems to be falling quite a bit lately. Do you see any reason for the recent decline and do you still like the company?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Good morning,
Can you explain why the stock is dropping or is this pre earnings manipulation.
Thanks
Carl

Q: MDA hit a double top @ some $101 in 2/15 & 5/15,then dropped to this level.Note it increased $1 plus on 7/16 & then dropped $1.03 on 7/17.It reports on 7/30.What do you think of the results? Is this an entry point no?.Appreciate your usual great services & views.
Q: I have held CAE for a couple of years and while is has gone up, it is does not appear to be set for any kind of dynamic growth. It has been particularly frustrating because it appears that it should - well capitalized, good backlog, growing area, unique technology among other advantages.
Would you consider switching this for MDA? I don't want to give up on CAE too early and there is nothing wrong with 10%+ growth annually but I am wondering if MDA could offer the same but within a "growthier" storyline.
Appreciate the insight.
Paul F.
