Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: In part of your response to Graeme, earlier today, in regard to Concordia, you stated, "The equity deal allows current shareholders to sell and replace their shares with the financing (at a lower price)."

??????

Confused here.

As a current shareholder of CXR, how does this affect me? I am in for the long haul and have learned to live with the volatility, but I'm at a loss to know if anything needs to be done here.

Thanks for clearing this up, because everything is very muddy right now.

Thanks, as always, for your great service -- especially to those, like me, who are "challenged" when it comes to "investor-speak".

Q: Can I get your thoughts on Concordia's (CXR) earnings?

Also, I see that they announce in US dollars. To determine an accurate p/e multiple, would it be as easy as simply converting the $4.19US earnings per share, expected in 2015, into Canadian funds and using that number to divide the shareprice with, or are there other factors to consider?

Q: Hi guys,

I've been noticing that healthcare stocks are all down big today and part of last week. Names like Concordia, Actavis, Biogen, and smaller names like Nobilis, Patient Home and Convalo are down as well. Is this part of a sector rotation with people rotating out of a hot sector maybe to get exposure to energy with the recent run up in oil?

Thanks,
Jason

Q: Would you please give me a quick rating for the following companies: Concordia (CXR), DH Corp (DH), Boyd Fund (BYD.UN) and CGI Group (GIB.A) -- in the A, B, C rating that 5I does. I realize a full analysis is impossible, but just wondered in a "wish list" of descending companies, which would you choose for a post-Christmas present to yourself, for growth in 2015? Thanks.

Q: Hello Peter and the 5I team
When markets correct as the tsx has done so, I like to search for companies that are able to hold their own in down times. I was surprised at how well CXR held up throughout the correction so far, the SP seemed to hold its own while the market came down. I was wondering if you could give us a few names of stocks that surprised you on their resilience to the market correction. Or maybe a few names that have a habit of holding up in down times.

Thanks for your response
