Q: I already own BEP and was considering adding another renewable energy company. Was considering Nextera. Has a good growth profile and has consistently increased the dividend. Your thoughts on the company or should I go with FTS or AQN.

Q: Greetings, everyone.
I have a follow up to my previous question. What are the factors that give Algonquin Power and Crius Energy a more favourable view that Northland Power, right now, in your opinion?
Thanks.
John

Q: Hello again!
It came to my attention that AQN declares its dividends in US$. Do they adjust for exchange rate and if not should I ask for my dividends to be paid in US$ while the loonie is getting higher and higher?
Have a good day!

Q: Greetings guys.
Question: If you had to split a 5% position among the names above, using strength of balance sheet, dividend growth, eps growth and valuation as determining factors, which name or names would you select and what percentage would you allocate to them.
Do you think the utility / alternative energy sector is a decent place to invest in against the backdrop of a rising rate environment. Theoretically, what weighting in a portfolio would you make this sector.
Thanks.

Q: Sold aw.un been a good run in an income RIF looking to replace it with Npi or Cpx or a similar utility . I am well diversified and switch does not alter weighting.
Would appreciate your opinion on this matter.

Q: I am retired living off dividend income. I am building my portfolio based on your income portfolio. However, I am not interested in index or bond funds.
Can you recommend 3-4 income stocks that are looking most attractive at current prices and yielding +4% that are not in the income portfolio to replace the index/bond funds?

Q: First of all thank you for putting the "sectors" beside the names in your portfolios - that is much appreciated.
Could you please list the "utility" companies you like best in order or preference and could you state if it is "large" company or a "small" company.
Thank you
Margaret

Q: Do the high p/e ratios on these stocks concern you or does their future growth take care of that? Also, are their dividends sustainable over the long term? Morningstar reports a low ROE on BEP and BIP, yet they are ranked as a high quality investment. AQN,BIP-UN and especially BEP-UN also seem to have high debt levels. Are these still good buys? thanks
Q: Could you tell me what the AFFO would be for AQN (projected)in 2017 and 2018 ? Per share data please.
Q: Hi,
Stock is down 7% ($1 or so) in the last month. It went ex-dividend ($0.16) last week. Any reason for the drop other than profit taking? Would this be a good time to add?
Thank you.

Many thanks

Q: I want to add some stocks to my TFSA and would prefer to have companies with good dividends (approx. 4%) and decent capital appreciation prospects for the next 3 to 5 years. Would you have any names that fit these criteria? Thanks
Q: What is the outlook for AQN and reasons why you would buy
this company today?
Why do they pay their dividends in USD and what difference
does it make?
Thank you very much.

iShares Core MSCI All Country World ex Canada Index ETF (XAW)
Q: I have opened an RESP for my 5month old with 3K in it (2500 plus 500 from govt). I know its small the first year, but I don't want to add a Canadian ETF as they are too oil and gas and financial focused.
I would like to own some good Canadian growth names that will hopefully be worth a lot when she heads off to school in 18 years and would like to keep it small since it is a small account to start. My idea was the following 7: GUD, SHOP, SIS, T, TD, AQN, PBH. I would like your opinion on them. Would you do anything differently?
Once I own all of the Canadian stocks my plan is to add XAW for world diversification.
What do you think of this idea? Which stocks would you add to the account first? I was thinking of starting with either 3 of 1K each or 4 of 750 each. I pay 7 dollars to buy them which isn't too bad.
What order would you add in?
With only 3K per year in the account it would take 3 years to get the stocks and ETF. I could just add another 2500 to the account now so that I can buy more of it now and be instantly diversified. I would not receive the grant on it but would I still receive future grants?

Q: To what extent do you think that the withdrawal of the USA from the Paris Accord will effect companies that focus on renewable energy. In addition to Algonquin, which companies will be negatively effected. Thank you for your comments.

Q: I hold AQN and have been very happy with it, but a proposed amendment to the share unit plan has me concerned. The proposal is that the maximum number of shares "available for issuance from treasury upon the vesting of the performance share units and restricted share units outstanding be increased from a fixed maximum of 500,000 common shares" to 7,000,000 shares. Based on the total shares out there, is the current 500,000 low by industry standards, or is the proposed 7,000,000 high. Insiders are proposing this, and I assume that only insiders would benefit from it. Could you provide your views on this proposal.
Thank-you

Q: Hi team, which of these 2 stocks would you recommend for a long term hold in an income portfolio right now. I already hold SPB and BEP in this account.
