Q: I'm a long term growth investor. Planning to do a little tax loss selling. I'm down on these 5 names. What do you think of each name from an investment point of view, in what order would you sell, and what, in your view, could be a possible replacement name for each. Thanks.

Q: Can you please provide a list of 10 USD and 10 CAD stocks that you hate? Looking for overvalued / broken story / bad balance sheet / margin compression types of names to short that should be very weak during a sell-off. Preference towards names with liquid options markets if possible.

Thanks

Q: Hi Peter et al:

Is RIVN dead?! Do you think Jeff Bezos will perform CPR........again?! My thesis getting into it with a small portion was that they had a "ready made" customer..i.e. Amazon warehouses and deliveries. That we were going to see RIVN vehicles everywhere in North America, delivering our stuff! Anyway, please gaze into your crystal ball and tell me if it will bounce at all. TSLA seems to have bounced nicely, eh?!

Q: Dear Peter et al:

Above mentioned stocks I hold as a small percentage of my portfolio. Of course I am down now! However I have been using covered call strategy to "get paid whilst I wait"! So, I am happy to hold them for a few years.
The question I have is this. Are these good companies to hold for a few years? If not, would you suggest any alternatives? I see from your answers that you like FTNT/CRWD,PANW.

Thank you for your answer.
Mano.

Q: Hi 5i,

May I please have your current thoughts on EV makers other than Tesla (which I already own)?
Are companies such as Rivian, Lucid, BYD, Nio etc. (or any others you can suggest) worth investing in as a stock?
Multiple questions here, but if you could give a brief breakdown of the more viable companies and their investment merits (or not) that would be great.

Thanks!

Q: What are your thoughts on longterm prospects for RIVN share price. Ugly cash flow right now, but debt not that high at the moment. Their trucks are very highly related and if they could only ramp up production, I think they could sell lots of them. The demand seems to be there. However they need to be able to weather their finances for a long enough duration to get them to the point where their supply can reach demand. I assume they can do this, but was hoping you could point out the risks and reasons why not. It could good (albeit with some risk) time to get into RIVN if one believes in the longterm success of their product? ie. lots of potential upside

Q: What does this statement mean and how does it affect shareholders?

"Finally, investors' fears are becoming reality because Rivian has just announced a bond issue aimed at raising $1.3 billion. The company intends to sell convertible notes, or bonds that can be paid back with cash, stock or a mix of the two, according to a press release.

Investors buying these notes will also have the option to buy additional notes worth up to $200 million, according to a statement dated March 6 2023"

Q: In January, regarding the above to companies, you stated "We don't like the valuations in the sector (especially RIVN, LCID)..."
My question is, after a significant drop in both, and the requirements for European countries to move into EV's in the coming years, is it reasonable to take a small position in one or both to sit on the shelf for 10 years. Is there another co (next to Tesla) that might be a better "shelf" stock. Thanks!

Q: Good morning, 5i team!

NFI didn't perform well in our portfolio in the last 2 years. Your thought on replacing it with one of these 2: Lion Electric or Rivian. Or just get out and put in Magna or Linamar instead for auto parts instead. Thank you!

Thanks!

Q: Hi Everyone at 5i! I learned my IPO lesson with Rivian and it hurts!! A good solid loss. I was thinking of selling what little funds I have left and buying some Mullen Automotive. It is a much smaller stock but seems to be beating earnings. Your thoughts??? Would I be going from the fire into the frying pan???Cheers, Tamara

Q: Hi 5i Team - Besides companies such as Tesla and the large auto companies, are there any smaller auto companies that may have some upside in the EV space. Any geographic location is fine. Thanks.

Q: Hi All At 5i! So in my eagerness to join the electric vehicle market, I went against my rules and bought the IPO at a higher price, dreams of Tesla stock values running through my Christmas punch addled mind. Well, down now 38%. Lesson learned. So my question... I usually am a long term holder, but hearing that more and more car companies are bringing on electric cars, would it be worth while holding this stock for a while. The sum invested is not immense and holding the stock in the TFSA as I do, I don’t have the advantage of tax loss selling. Cheers, Tamara

Q: As the Electric Vehicles become more mainstream I was wondering if its time to buy into the market. Have you been watching any of the EV players such as Tesla, Rivian or Lucid?
Also, what are your thoughts on Lion Electric her in Canada?

I was thinking of buying a small position in one or two of them just to not entirely miss the opportunity to be in on the beginning.

Thoughts?

Thanks
