Q: Hi,
I've owned ONEX in the past but currently don't have any exposure to private equity and I'm looking to get back into this space. Should an average long term growth investor have some exposure to this asset class? Looking to make PE 3-5% of my total portfolio. Can you rank the mentioned stocks from best to worst and which ones are best for long term growth and capital appreciation. Any other suggestions or advice would be welcome. Thanks!

Q: Interesting article in Tuesday's Globe about the SNC sale of Highway 407. Stephen Jarislowsky is against the sale, he thinks it should go to a shareholder vote and feels that the value of the 407 investment will double in 10 years. My question is how can an an investor like myself invest in the 407 and if the answer is no can you recommend a similar investment. Thank You.

Q: I hold a full position in both ONEX and BAM (BAM in US$). I'm 79 and have cash to see me through the next 2 years. I look to my portfolio to mainly provide growth with reasonable security. Is this too much private equity, and if so which one would you sell and what would be a better investment?
How do you allocate these two when considering geographic and sector allocation. It doesn't seem right to classify both as Canadian Financial

Q: Hi 5i,
I understand that many high net worth and institutions have alternative assets in their portfolios. Can you please help suggest some stocks which may be available for purchase on a Canadian stock exchange for an individual investor representative of the asset class.
1. Private Equity: BBU.UN, ONEX?, stock?, ETF?
2. Hedge Funds: stock?, ETF?

Q: Hello 5i, Thanks very much for all you do for your members. I look at your organization as the "Robin Hood" of the Canadian financial industry. My question today is: I sold my ECI this last week and decided to capture the gain and redistribute to one new position with the proceeds. I'm looking for another dividend aristocrat (as identified by the S&P index or one that could be as CIX will be getting the boot) I'm closing in on retirement but still like to stay in the growing type names. Not terribly worried about maximizing my income at this point. Which of my choices do you think has the most upside over the next 5 years.

Q: Hi 5I,
How would a small investor get in to Private equities. This only seems possible for High Net Worth Clients. Is there good Publicly traded company's or ETF's that focus on Private equities. Is this a type of asset class that is recommended to diversify your portofolio.
Thank you
