Q: Hi,
In one day up 45% (short squeeze?), finishes the day up 24%, then the next day tanks 15%...almost ending up at the same share price before the 20% sale.
What gives?
Can you suggest a valuation?
What is the chance this thing gets back to $20?

Q: Hi!
I just read piece about CIX in the Globe here: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-ci-financial-us-expansion-leave-canada/ .
It is a far from flattering description of CIX (says the CEO is overpaid, and the CEO overpaid for the US businesses, too much debt).
I have a couple of questions.
1) The article said that the CI will delist from the NYSE and be listed only on the TSE,
This seems like a bad development. What do you think?
2) Also, there is the talk about the IPO. Well, what does that exactly mean for share holders (ideally)? Would the IPO lead to a pop in CI's share price?
3) Would it end up being a dilutive transaction?
Maybe I am being pessimistic, but the outlook for CI seems...unprofitable...and I fear the worst (permanent loss of capital).

Q: I see that CI sold some companies and that they are looking at selling others where they have no control with high %,. Of investment. This should bring debts lower. What effect will this have on their price and is there listing in US still going ahead. Will the dividend continue

Q: Hi,
Should one just wait out the decline in CIX, or bail?
It's not like I backed up the truck at 20 or anything.
Yours kindly,
David

Q: I have the stocks in RRIF and CIX in TFSA.Do you have any news concerning CIX ventures in US and the Canadian taking the debts. Is it a concern my breakeven is 15.50, Gold seem to be climbing well with bank turmoil in US.All this debt will have to be repaid to gov't entities eventually. Can US still avoid a recession with all these problems.Gold has moved quite a lot in last week. What does 5i globe see in the future for gold
Q: Wow! I spent an hour on a bunch of questions and it was all lost. Here is the summary:
WEF. What is your take. Credit it me if it becomes a 5i pick. : )
WELL: seems it popped because of Ford's medical privatization options. Should I wait for a share price decline? Sometimes prices seem to drop before earnings just so that they can pop more when earnings are announced.
CIX moving nicely. At point would I sell? My breakeven is 20.
Maybe 5i could float their own mutual funds...as Motley Fool has done I believe.
Idea: some kind of software to remind people to buy certain stocks?
Chiefs or Eagles?
Tar and Infinity Pool were boring movies.
Prediction: Dollarama will drop briefly on some manufactured "dire" situation. Things have been going too well for too long there.
Is it illegal to short a company having created the conditions for that shorting? Example: short A&W then get everyone to boycott A & W.

Q: Have you read that major article the Globe and Mail did on CIX on Saturday? If so, do you have any response to it? It sounded kind of like a hit piece, and certainly had nothing good to say about either the company's future prospects or its leadership.

Q: Hello All,
A strategy occasionally mentioned is to consider buying at 52 week highs because it suggests continuing upward momentum .
I am following a few names which keep rising however am loathed to buy at this time because of the possible threat of a market correction.
Would you be willing to suggest any companies that you would almost certainly be buying, into recent highs, despite the looming threat?
Thank you

Q: Leaving other factors aside (eg taxes etc), within a well diversified portfolio would you be ok with selling CIX and TECK.b in favour of buying WCN and DOL? Basically I am asking if you think these latter two (at current valuations) might outperform the former in what I expect to be a somewhat moderate to deep recession? Thanks!
Q: With BMO attracting all these inv. people from CIX how badly will this hurt CIX performance
Q: Hi!
I got into CIX a few months ago at around $20. I am happy to hold and wait to break even at least. Would you be able to suggest how long that will wait will be? Also, are the fundamentals still in place for CIX for the market to pay $20 for CIX.
Not to worry...it wasn't a massively concentrated position or anything! : )

Q: I see good value in each of these companies and am planning on taking a position in one of them.
For a 3-5 year hold in my TFSA, which would be your choice and why?
Thanks, Rick

Q: Hi Everyone at 5i! I am thinking of selling my BNS shares and buying CIX for better future growth. What are your thoughts on this?? Would this be a good move at these stock prices??
Cheers,

Q: I recently sold Fiera as a tax loss and am thinking of Canaccord as a replacement in my income portfolio.
Your thoughts on CF and what are the risks vs. other financials? Do on you have another recommendation in mid-cap financials?

Q: The company's has undertaken an acquisition strategy. Initial quarterly results have just come in. Do you feel this is a viable strategy and where could CIX be in 5 years? That said, at this price point ($14.30 or so a share) and a healthy dividend, could money be made on the stock over the next 2-3 years? Is $30 a share doable? Thank you
