Barrick Gold Corporation (ABX)

Newmont Corporation (NGT)
Q: I would like to add a large major gold producer to my portfolio, which one of the five (AEM, NGT, FNV, ABX or WPM) would you pick? Thanks.
Q: I am looking at Gold mining companies and royalty companies. My preference is low to no debt with good management. My preferred choices right now are KL, LUN, WPM, and FNV, all of which are priced high right now. I own mostly NGT, but I'm not sure about them. I'm having a hard time selling NGT, priced 'OK,' to buy higher priced companies. My question is:
What are your preferred gold companies with no/low debt and good management?
Is NGT a slow but safer company, or should I move on to the others?

Q: I am going to add Gold to my portfolio and am looking for your advice. I really like the Franco-Nevada model being that they have royalties and do not own mines, but it seems quite expensive? Thoughts on evaluations etc ? Depending on your thoughts I would like to add FNV and an actual gold miner. The ones I have listed have a larger market cap as I am not interested in too small of gold miners.
With all the things going on in the world right now, how concerned are you of a recession in the US that will drag Canada into it? The flags I am concerned about right now are: 10yr bull market, US balance sheet issues, repos, inverted yield curve, Fed policy (decreasing interest rates), trade war, global slowing. A lot of other countries hold US paper........ It makes you wonder how much more debt the US can endure and maintain a strong dollar.
We all know that there is going to be a correction at some point in the future....but something to me feels different about what is coming. Maybe I am just a paranoid investor...I have to quit watching the prepper shows!
Besides gold what is the best way to protect ourselves in the event that the US has a financial crisis that affects their dollar?

Q: I own KL and have made a very good profit on it and hate to sell at this point. However I do have an ETF I'm not happy with and thinking of selling. Would you suggest taking profit to buy one of the other golds and if so which one or using money from my ETF?
Q: Hi Team,
I'm thinking of putting some money on gold and couldn't decide if I should put it on FNV or a gold etf (ZGD). Your thoughts on this would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Q: Hello folks:
I am very surprised by the paucity of questions on Gold sector, especially when some of the regular BNN experts like Ross Healy and many others in Seeking Alpha seem to think that the support of 1300 plus will hold and Gold's time to shine is finally here.
Your words of wisdom and your top 3 picks for this sector.
Many thanks.

Q: Gentlemen Good Morning
Your answer today about dividends in US$
"Holding US-dollar dividend companies inside a US account saves this fee, and we would prefer to see them held in a US dollar account"
Not always thru unfortunately.
At NBDB, if you have CSU, FNV, OTEX, NTR in US account the fees fx/x conversion are double, because NBDB said it receive dividends in Ca$ from their agent (or custodian). I will complain to the Ombudsman.
At Scotia-ITrade they said the dividends are in Canadian by default because its a Canadian corporation, but they deny that dividends are payed in US$. The agents don't understand (or not competent)
At BMO said they dividends as paid in US$ if the stock is in US account, I feel some uncertainty on this answer but maybe true
VB said "This will only happen for two reasons at Virtual Brokers. First, if you do not have an U.S. side open in your account. Second, if the company trades on Canadian exchanges and pays the dividends in U.S. dollars we convert it to Canadian". Its clear. The G&M gives to VB best discount broker.
Best Regards.

Q: FNV, KL and AEM appear to be your current favorites in the gold sector based on recent responses. (Feel free to correct this.)
I have AEM and am trying to decide whether to add a bit more or sell it and get something else. The risk-reward calculus of FNV as a royalty co looks pretty attractive. Would you switch? Which of the three is your favourite overall?
Thanks!
