Q: Hello- a few months ago I took a full position in IWO and am currently about break even, I'm a bit concerned about the possibility of recession and wonder if there's a US ETF that would not suffer as much in a drooping economy in which the smallest companies get impacted earlier. I'm wondering about VO, for example. Thanks

Q: Peter et al:
I sure hear a lot on BNN and read in the G&M about small caps making a comeback. Think I heard the same thing last year at this time. Would you invest in small or mid caps or split it up to include both? If so for small would you choose IWN, IJR, or VIOO ? IWO has a good deal of unprofitable small growth companies, that is why I chose IWN as a contender, or is it the same. If your choice would be mid caps which of VO or IJH and why.
Thanks ben.

Q: Hi,
Was looking at these two mid cap ETF's and noticed that for VO, the market cap of companies that it holds is a lot higher than the companies held in IJH. I would have thought that mid cap companies are usually around $2-15B. Many of the VO companies are >$40B, whereas the IJH companies are <$20B. Why the large difference in market cap between these two ETF's? What is the average mkt cap of holdings for each ETF? And would you be indifferent between IJH and VO? Thanks!

Q: Hi There,
Do you expect the energy and resources sectors to continue to do well in 2023? I'm contemplating selling SU and/or Teck and moving the money into a US mid cap ETF such as VO. Apple to Oranges I know, however looking for the best risk/reward scenario.
You thoughts please.
Thank you

Q: Your last market update contained the following noteworthy statement:
“For investors with a long-term horizon, small-caps and mid-caps are presenting investors with a roughly once-in-a-decade opportunity.”
Can you recommend a few US ETFs that fit into this thesis?

Q: Hi 5i, I believe in diversification and sector capital allocation as the way to help protect yourself over the long term and am currently building out a well diversified portfolio with dividends in mind. With that said my Canadian investments are good (thank you 5i) In the US I am missing exposure to small and midcap companies can you recommend a ETF or mutual fund while keeping dividends in mind currency doesn't matter to me as i have both Canadian and US accounts. Also for the rest of the world I have VXUS ETF can you help me with exposure there.
Many thanks!
Many thanks!
