Q: I have had the stocks above for long enough to watch them go up and then retreat dramatically after their last quarterly reports. Any thoughts on if taking advantage of the dip with these three is a good strategy or just hold what I have currently? All are underweight in my portfolio. Thanks.

Q: Hi 5i,
I have a question about currency as it relates to investments made to the TSX or US stock exchanges.
I am embarrassed to ask given this was likely a rookie move; posting publicly in case it helps others.
I have made investments via my TFSA, LIRA, RRSP and self directed investment account in some US equities (above).
What I perceive now to be a "problem" is that all purchases of US stocks (including those with dividends) were made out of my CA account of said RRSP, TFSA, LIRA etc. given I did not hold any USD$ in my investment accounts.
Yesterday there were a few questions around Norbert’s Gambit approach (which I am not familiar with) and I have since realized the error of my ways. Here are my questions - knowing you cannot personalize responses - but if it were YOU :
- 1) As a Canadian, should the purchase of any US equity always be purchased using US funds in said investment account? OR when available - should you purchase on the CA stock exchange?
- 2) What is the best way to transfer CAD from said investment account into the US corresponding account if one wants to be mindful of fees, exchange rates etc. (is that Norbert's approach?)
-3) What would you suggest I do for the US equities I currently own in CA accounts? Is there anything to do?
Please use any credits you see fit.
Thanks a Million.

Q: I'm confused by your earlier response to Maureen's question today on the risk reward for some companies. I expected NXT and CELH to receive high risk rankings but I did not expect them to receive such low grades for reward. In fact t, a couple of questions later you singled these two companies out as top growth candidates in a 3-5 year period. Did I misinterpret your answer?
Appreciate your insight.

Q: In a recent answer 5i described CELH as ‘interesting’.
I am down 30% in an initial position and planning to bring it to a full position over time.
Questions:
1) For an 8-year holding period, what is the risk of loss of capital on this company? I am fine with volatility if fundamentals are solid, but I am not fine with permanent capital losses in registered accounts(!)
2) Would 5i consider it prudent to continue accumulating this name over the next 12 months for an 8-year hold?
Thank you.

Q: pCELH seems to be in a good sub-category of consumer discretionary focussed on fitness, weight loss, and wellness.
They seem to have a good advertising and social media strategy: https://www.brandcredential.com/post/unveiling-the-celsius-marketing-strategy
The recent distribution deal with Pepsi-Co should bring new growth opportunities, and all financial metrics look great.
I was really interested in this company until I heard the Celsius management team speak to investors on a recent investor call (Everecore ISI). They did not sound very mature or well prepared.
Putting that aside, would you see any problem to own both monster, and Celsius since they are going after different demographics? Is Celsius the Lululemon of energy drinks - possibly minus the management team?

Q: Hello Peter,
CELH seems to have broken down and has retraced significantly from the highs. Wondering if this is still a hold or should we cut and redeploy to other growth names? Thoughts and comments.

Q: CELH continues to decline. I added once on the way down. Would it be worth while to add one more time to get too a full position?

Q: Hi 5i Team,
I will be adding to one or more to small existing positions in either VRT, CELH, AMZN, BKNG, and or NXT. Could you please list in order of preference for addition at this time and considering a decent time frame and high risk tolerance. A short comment on the pros and cons of each would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Q: You have often noted your preference for investing in stocks exhibiting positive momentum. Do you promote this strategy to obtain the best price for the stock - i.e. not buying a failing knife or to ensure that the stock being purchased has a solid following with other investors and therefore a "good future"? I reference CELH and VRT in this question in order to determine the best way to purchase these stocks as both have been declining significantly for a short time ( although I think any volatile stock could be used). There is no question in mind that I want to buy both. Normally, I would wait to see their prices turn north before buying but both have shown in the past that a 10% - 20% one-day rise is not impossible. So is a partial buy-in called for here and risk missing in on a one-day big jump? Or is it best to see positive momentum first in case the stock isn't coming back?
Appreciate your insight.
Paul F.
