Q: Hi, Peter.
I currently own Enbridge (ENB.TO) which has a curent P/E of approximately 44 and a yield just under 3%. The P/E, although lower on forward earnings, appears to hardly qualify as a defensive stock in price. I am considering selling ENB and buying Enbridge Income Fund (ENF.TO) which shows a P/E of 17 and a yield of 5.3%. However, I noticed that GlobeInvest rates ENB 4 stars abd ENF 3 stars for safety. I assume this difference is because ENB is more oil related and ENF transports more natural gas.
How would you evaluate the swapping of ENB for ENF?
Thanks, Ed
Q: Currently, the oil patch future in Canada is largely predicated on the availability of more pipeline transportation. In this regard, is it a safe bet to invest in ENB,TRP and, to a lesser degree, in IPL.UN ? If so, which one is more promising, and why ? In addition, do you think that approval of the Keystone pipeline is a sure bet (likely to be announced in late March) ?
Q: Peter; After today's TD report in the NP re oil pipelines being full , which existing pipeline companies would benefit from the possible lack of new permits for any new projects, such as Keystone,Gateway etc.? Thanks.
Q: hello 5i:
thanks once again for an outstanding site. Like many of your followers, I am very happy thus far with your advice, and wish I'd taken it sooner and bought more of them. Now, my question. I have a little exposure, in my portfolio, to TRP and PPL. I would like to add a little more to this sector. Diversification is not paramount (I was thinking ENB), so what is your favourite pipeline pick? I couldn't really tell by researching the site and looking at previously asked questions.
Q: Hi 5i. I have a question about the metrics of ENB (Enbridge). Everyone, including you, seem to think this is a good buy. But its P/E is over 48 and its PEG is over 2. Don't these indicate it is greatly overpriced?
Q: Peter, I am a dividend seeker (RRIF) and have to decide between ENB and ETP-N. Big difference in yield while other metrics are close enough. You opinion please, thanks
ENB/ETP-N:
yield: 2.88%/8.4%----favours ETP
Debt/equity ratio: 1.58/1.28---favours ETP
P/E ratio: 48/32----favours ETP
Payout Ratio: 28/32----favours ENB
Beta: 0.39/0.87-----favours ENB
Price/Sales: 1.37/1.51-----favours ENB
Q: Hi Peter, I think you spoke favourably on ENB last Sept. some time so I bought some for an RSP account and watched it go up to about $42.00 now it's coming back down is there a reason, should I take some profit now and move on or do you still like it and would you still hold it? Thanks, Nick
debating about either averaging down a touch on my enbridge or starting a new position in enf. does it make sense to own both? Which would you prefer at these levels? Thanks again.
Q: Enbridge Inc. Rate Reset Preference Shares, Series P . This issue has just been announced. $25.00, 4% per annum, paid quartly, comulative.
Any views on this issue?
Thank you
Q: what do you think of purchasing Enbridge in the low $39s? Would you rather wait and see what other opportunities september may bring or would try and take advantage of ENB's recent weakness?
Lastly, if ENB is a buy, today, would you advise going a full position right off the bat, or would you take a partial position and add on weakness or as material news dictates? Thanks again and thanks for the two new reports today.
Q: Hello: It has been suggested that I buy Enbridge for my RSP account. I am hesitant to do so given the current climate and would like your opinion. Thanks!
