Q: ALA has been behaving poorly for an extended period of time. The dividend is approaching 7%. Is there value here ? Are there better options for long term investors? Thank-you.
Q: Hello. Enbridge Gas represents a 4% in my total investment. Other than that, my portfolio is low in energy stocks. My questions are (1) Should I count ENB as part of an energy investment? (2) What should be the ideal percentage of energy sector in a balanced portfiolio? (3) Could you suggest several energy stocks or related energy stocks that have the most potential? (4) To your opinion, it is now a good timing to enter the market? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE
For pure utilities, I have BEP (2.0%) and RNW (1.5%). I also have ENB (2.0%) and IPL (1.0%) if you consider those utilities.
I'm looking to increase my utilities allocation and wondering if I should add to what I have or take a position in Fortis (or another name you recommend).
Q: Hello Peter and 5i team,
What are your general thoughts on the pipelines at this time. In the past we owned Pembina and Interpipe line. Currently we have Transcanada and a small Enbridge holding. We were thinking of adding to Enbridge but it would mean selling Telus or Bce. What do you think of selling Telus and buying Enbridge. They both have similar dividends and the technicals favour Enbridge.
Your opinions are valued as always.
Q: Hi 5i team, I am looking more closely at ENB financials. It looks like they have negative EPS and FCF but then they have comprehensive income of 2030 mil added to their Income statement. Can you explain what this is and if it should be added to EPS. Also would you still say ENB is your favorite or is there another pipeline that you are liking better today. Thank you for your guidance.
Q: Further to my previous question in ENB dividends, they are paid in Canadian dollars and converted at the current exchange rate at the time they are paid?
Q: Peter; Thank you for the reply re the Enbridge new issue. I am having a problem figuring out the difference between a short seller going short a stock - which happened in Canada last year quite a bit- and then issuing a derogatory report to drive down the stock and cover his short position. Then you have major Canadian dealers going short ENB in the full knowledge they are going to be doing a new issue at a huge discount. They have no risk as they can buy the new issue to cover their short position- plus they get fees to do the deal. Why is this not insider information? What am I missing- is this just the way all new equity issues are done in Canada- and the U.S.. Seems like a deal to me- but not if I bought stock from the Enbridge dealers at $45.00. Can you explain the difference to me- and maybe other members? Thanks. Might be two questions in here so you can ding me for them. Rod
Q: Peter; I have my cynic hat on this morning after reading that the short interest in ENB increased by 5.7 million shares or 18.3 %. Then this AM we have the huge equity issue. Is it in the realm of plausibility that the dealers who did the deal were also the cause for the short increase? Seems a good way to lock in a profit. Thanks.Rod
Q: Can I have your thoughts on Enbridge after their recent earnings announcement. The fact that their dividend increases may be less than announced in 2014 causes some concern. I am interested in this security as a long term hold. Thank You.
Q: Hi, can I have your updated thoughts on the following pipelines: IPL, ENB or its income fund, and TRP. Which ones are of better value to you right now? And future Growth? Would you know the payout ratios for each and are they sustainable? Are LNG exports looking positive in your views and for these positive? Thanks!
Q: Hope everyone enjoyed the cruise and that it wasn't as choppy as markets!
My question is on Covered Calls in the CDN market and I wonder if you would have 5 stocks to suggest for this strategy. I note that using this strategy in the US market … AAPL, CSCO, DIS have way more activity and choices, but I like this idea for CDN stocks that I already own, per the suggestions from 5i.
Your thoughts please, and welcome back to reality.
Peter
Q: Hello. How do you think Enbridge will fair over then next 1 to 2 years? Do you think it likely the volume of oil moved through their pipelines will decrease (tied to the possibility that Canadian oil producers reduce output from more expensive sources)? It certainly seems like a bad time to sell or trim ENB, but that only remains true if there is a hope for a turn around in that 1 to 2 year timeframe. Thanks so much.
If already owned, at this point would you suggest adding more to the ENB position or add some (sector) diversification with other names?
If other name what are your top 2-3 preferences?
