Q: Have a capital loss with Telus of 23%. Would you recommend selling Telus and buying one of BCE, QBR.B or RCI.B or just keeping cash buying back T after 30 days or doing something else? How would you rank BCE, QBR.B, RCI.B, T for an income account for purchase?

Q: I have full position of both Telus and BCE, both at substantial losses in a margin account. Should I leave them be, reduce, or get out? I do not have much in the way of capital gains this year. If reducing these stocks is a good idea, what would you replace them with in today's very expensive market, not worrying about sector, more about regaining the losses? Could GSY be a replacement or would you consider this much more high risk? Thank you!

Q: How would you define a "core holding" in a portfolio? The above listed companies I consider to be core holdings. Does this list broadly match your definition of what type of companies should make up core holdings in a portfolio? Are there names in that list that you would NOT consider to be "core holdings"?

Q: I have owned BCE & T for a very long time. Even with BCE dividend cut I am up a lot (including dividends paid). T is in the doldrums and share price is stagnant. Should I sell these two and buy CGO: low payout ration ROE of 10% but a ton on debt. CGO up a lot this year! Or, sell T and BCE and not buy CGO. I am 77 YO. T & BCE are a small % of total portfolio.

Q: If--for diversification purposes, not to mention buying into an unloved investment space--which one of the 4 major Canadian telecom companies (BCE, Quebecor, Rogers, Telus)-- would you be most interested in owning long-term, for >10-year hold? Could you rank them from #1 (top choice) thru #4, and provide a rationale for your ranking?

Q: Firstly, I very much appreciate your tax loss, selling list and the explanations that came with it.

I am down about 22% on both BCE and GSY. Would either or both be appropriate for a tax loss/re-buy strategy?

On PSI, X, and TSU I am down about 6 1/2%. Is it worth considering these for the same strategy, or am I just being silly?

Q: I have a $50K bond maturing next week in a non-registered account and plan to re-deploy the cash amongst the six equity holdings already in that account for long term hold. Are there any amongst the group that I should hold-off on, or are there any that I should over-weight?

Q: I believe your last Telus vs "the others" comparison was a couple months ago in which you had favoured T. Has that changed? I believe in a comparison, T's debt ratio was worse than both BCE and Rogers.

A recent guest on BNN stated that his preference was moreso for the other two, but actually even more for Quebecor. His concern on T was the lack of dividend coverage over the next few years. Do you have concerns here? I'm trying to determine whether I should make the switch from T to BCE since the latter has already took the dividend-cut pain.

Q: I want to raise a bit of cash for a balloon payment on my mortgage. I can sell BCE at a loss, which would offset good gains earlier this year. Alternately I could sell NTR for a slight profit. I also own a bit of Telus (also at a slight loss) but no other Ag stocks.

Which would you be inclined to sell?

Q: In a recent G&M article, Bell and Rogers could soon have competition for direct-to-cell customers from Starlink.

What future impact, if any, would this potentially have on Telus? This will be my only remaining Telecom stock, which pays me a fairly significant amount of my dividends. Do we know if there is a huge risk of future disruption for Telus?
