Q: Hello 5i,
I am thinking of starting a long term position in oil that is not small or mid cap. I was looking at Suncor since they seem to have a closed system in place from oil in the ground to the gas station (Petro-Canada). What is their payout ratio?
Are there other canadian oil majors that are comparable to suncor that are as stable?
Andrew

Q: I need to invest in an energy company/ies and have decided upon SU and CNQ so that my energy component of my investments is appropriate . I am both an income and growth investor and at the appropriate time in the near future will invest in one or both of these companies. In your opinion is one of these companies a better investment considering my criteria (and why) or should I invest an equal amount in each. Thank you. Mike
Q: I am looking to initiate a position in an oil and gas company.
Can you recommend a couple of companies that would benefit the most from a rebound in the sector, also your reasons for recommending the companies. I have a fairly high risk tolerance and I am looking at a longer term hold.
Thanks!

Q: Should I just throw in the towel on Encana? If so, could you suggest a replacement? Thanks.
Q: Both had solid results today. Time to start building a position in both at these prices? Thx.
Q: Would you be okay to switch from Suncor to Parex for better growth?
Q: If you have to pick one of these companies for income and bit of growth over long term, which one will it be and why?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Does cnq have any exposure to the 2 future lng projects in B.C. and which of the above mentioned would you recommend for a 5 year hold and why? Thanx.
Q: When is SU reporting & what are the expected EPS & Revenue?. Is this a good time to start a position? thanks for u usual great services & views
Q: Your comments:
would you agree at oil prices at $70 ish - $30ish discount for Canadian select oil and 3 year horizon. thanks for you view .
GLOBE :
"While we continue to believe that there are a number of strong buying opportunities in this group, we believe that taking shelter in Suncor, the best Canadian Integrated E&P in our view, is a prudent investment decision at this time. Given the company's status as a top-tier operator, and most profitable Canadian refiner, we are perplexed as to the company's relative underperformance as of late and believe that current equity price levels present a strong entry point for investors."

Q: What is your opinion on the HSE offer for MEG. I have owned a 0.5 position for many years...with my other major oil and gas holding as full position in SU. Is the drop today an over-reaction and time to add a bit on the dip? It has had a good run and the dividend is back.
Q: I would like to sell ONE of the above (need the money)
all have capital gains, ignoring tax consequences,
Which is the most overly valued right now, hence my way of looking at selling high.
I am open to your opinion about how else / other ways of looking at a sell (outside of tax consequences.)
thanks
Ernie

Q: Hell 5i Team,
I am planning to cash out mutual fund and invest it in stocks in my wife's RRSP account (75K) which will be around 1/3 od my existing portfolio (150K). I have my TFSA and RRSP invested in stocks (mostly from Balanced Equity portfolio). I am considering these names, which I don't have in my existing portfolio. Do you see any concern with any name? Please suggest a couple of names for growth potential, but not too risky.
Thanks for the great service.

Q: Between SU and CNQ, which one would you recommend today?
Thanks.

Q: just wondering what your thoughts are on why Vermillion seems to move in greater swings than either CNQ or SU, particularly given VET is less reliant on Western Canadian discount pricing...thanks.
Q: I presently hold VLO (purchased at 68.46) and would like to add another refiner. Is there a Canadian refiner you would suggest or should I add to VLO (present weight - 3%) or another US name. Stock will be held in my RSP account.
