Q: Good morning,

Thoughts on TD from here? I had read earlier reports prior to this week’s drop that there was essentially no value being ascribed to the US retail bank. With the asset cap, what is forward PE and revised target price? I would like to think that even with no growth in the US retail bank, there clearly is some value there, and management will ultimately determine other, more strategic, ways to deploy capital that hopefully will be accretive to the stock price.

Thanks

Q: Hi 5i, I'd like to bring my position in TD to a full weight, and was wondering what your crystal ball shows as a floor. I'm thinking the weak hands will wash themselves of their holdings soon.

Looking at their 10 year CAGR [divi+growth] of approx 10%, a stock yielding 5% with a
5yr DGR of approx 8%, what could go wrong?

Thx

Q: I’m considering setting up a TFSA for a spouse who is not interested in selecting stocks/managing investments.
Should I stick to ETFs or mix ETFs with a few conservative stocks?

Q: We are planning to set up a separate investment account for our grandkids. Assume a 10 year hold. There are a few sectors we would want to overweight - 3 stocks, CAD or US, in Financials, Industrials, Technology and 1-2 stocks in the others. What would you look for and how would that translate into individual stock selections.

Q: Would both these 2 ETF fall under Financial services? I have 25% holding in this sector and need to reduce and wonder which ETF would you sell to bring down the weight. Both are 5% weight in my RRSP account. I have also some other financial stocks in a non registered account but reluctant to sell as this would would create a capital gain and I have no loss to offset the gain with.

Thanks

Q: Hi All at 5i! I have 44K in CPD in a non registered account which provides me monthly income via dividends. I prefer a stock which pays a decent dividend but also offers some growth. I would like to sell my CPD which has given me no growth and reinvest in better growth/ dividend paying stocks. Could you offer me the names of 5 such stocks?.
Cheers,
Tamara

Q: Value investor with some growth, 78 years old with good pension. I am slightly overweight in financials as above. I now see that I own both BKCC and HMAX. I do not seem to need both. I intend to sell BKCC and buy AW.UN to take advantage of its current situation. Does this sound like a plan or are there pitfalls?
Thank you

Q: 5i and I agree on the importance of good management teams (think CSU and ATD). I'm inclined to pin the giant mess TD has created with money laundering woes in the US on its management team and most especially the CEO and Board. Do you agree and if so, would it not be prudent to stick with other banks until we see changes in the upper ranks of TD?

Q: My husband is 8 years away from retirement and wants to buy dividend stocks to leave mostly alone (not checking daily like me!) - he'll check in on it now and then. This is the list he's come up with - slightly higher positions in BCE, BPF.UN and slightly lower in AW.UN, CAR.UN and OLY, otherwise fairly evenly split. Do you see this a good list for his purposes, and is there anything you would leave off, or add? Any other alarm bells? Thanks!
