Q: I have some American $$ and I own no oil/gas. Do you like gas or oil at this point? Do you have some US dividends and growth for a recommendation? Preferably separate companies.

Q: On a question regarding WELL you indicated, the appetite for growth stocks driven by acquisition, with sub $700 million cap have just about 0% appetite right now. If you ture that around, what is there an appetite for now and please give me 5 examples of Canadian companies and American companies that meet those requirements. Thanks.

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan, and Team,

Two questions; please deduct credits accordingly.

Question 1 - I plan to sell one ETF (HXS) and two stocks (SJ & TCN) for a tax loss and then buy them back after 30 days. Please suggest proxies for each that I could buy as a replacement for the 30 days. These are held in a margin account.

Question 2 - I own WCP in my RRIF, and find that its volatility is harder for me to handle than I had thought. (Its beta is 3.26). Now that I'm in the black with it, I was thinking of two alternatives; selling WCP and adding to an existing profitable position in TOU (beta = 1.62), or starting a new position in XOM (beta = 1.07). XOM would increase my US exposure which needs to be increased, according to Portfolio Analytics. What's your take on this strategy?

Alternative ideas for each question would be welcome, and as always, thanks for your insight.

What are the realistic possible paths for oil pricing and related companies? i.e. +6mo, +1 year, +2-3 years?

The Russia factor is a huge variable and I cannot see global sympathy restoring demand for Russian oil but money talks ... when I see US pump prices something will have to move longer term or there will be a lot of frustration and pain.

I own smaller positions in a few O&G companies at historic highs so I am tempted to take a little profit after not taking some for lots of growth stocks when they had tailwinds.

I am low on energy and pipelines, as ENB.TO is my only holding in this sector. Most of the available cash I have on hand is in a US dollar RSP account, which I do not have to convert to a RIF for another 4 years. I've listed some stocks that have my attention, and wonder if it is reasonable to purchase now, as they're mostly at new 52 week highs, except OGS and VZ. Do you think these will still have room for further gains, or am I essentially too late and taking a risk these will roll over quickly as we inch closer to a US recession? Are there others you would prefer that aren't listed and any of the above that would be higher risk in this market environment? Take the appropriate points for the multiple questions. At this particular time, which ETF do you think worth buying? US based XLE or Canadian based XEG? Is there a ETF based on Europe or the rest of the world?

Will you underweight or overweight energy in one's portfolio? I know in the US energy doesn't play a big role. But in Canadian index, they do.

Q: Hello 5i Team

I own Chevron and ExxonMobil in my US$ denominated RRSP. These are the only US$ oil and gas stocks in my RRSP account.

My US$ RRSP is structured as a large cap dividend aristocrat account.

My cost basis per share for CVX is US$115.00 and for XOM is US$80.00. Current yield on CVX is 5.6 % and on XOM is 6.4 %

As I cannot harvest capital losses in a RRSP account, is there any benefit in consolidating these two holdings into one stock? Which company has the better potential for growth long term (5 year or greater). Or should I do nothing and continue to receive dividends until the stocks return to their former highs?
