Q: Hi All at 5i! I am thinking of investing in a Us bank. Any suggestions and would now be a good time to buy? Warren Buffett seems to be bullish on Wells Fargo. Cheers, Tamara

Q: I am concerned about my allocations to the banking sector. TD accounts for 16% of my portfolio and BAC/WFC combination 7%. All shares were purchased during the financial crisis and I have done extremely well with that move. With TD's US exposure I could pare BAC/WFC or reduce TD or continue to hold them? All shares are in RIFs. I am a conservative investor. Dividend income is good.

Q: Given the attack by Trump on financial regulation in the US, do you think it is a good time to add companies like goldman sacs and wells fargo or perhaps Jpm to my portfolio. Thanks.
Q: I have owned WFC for a couple of years and purchased it because it was considered to be the best in class by some (Warren Buffet) although its reputation has been tarnished in the last few months. I know you have always preferred JPM. Would you endorse a switch over to JPM or does WFC still provide a pretty reasonable upside in your opinion?

Q: OK, I will try this again (please disregard my previous attempts (2) (uncompleted questions). With all the ganging up on Wells Fargo is this a good time to buy? It is wery near a 52 week low as I write this. Also should this not be in your database as WFC.US?
Q: Is now a good time to buy Wells Fargo?
Q: I have owned these two companies for a couple of years as part of a well diversified portfolio - both geographic and by industry. Financials in the US have been relatively flat for nearly a decade and I am wondering if there is a case to be made for owning US financials when Canadian financials have done better and pay a nice dividend. I am comfortable that these two stocks are near the top of the class so it is not the companies that I question. Would you deem it reasonable to hold only Canadian financials at this time and to invest the US dollars in other areas?
Appreciate your insight.

Q: Good Morning 5i,
I am looking to replace my shares in Bank of America ( BAC). I have held it in my US account now for more than 2 years, and it really has done nothing, it has actually in that span of time gone down in value. No growth what so ever.
I realize the US market isn't your field of expertise, but i thought you would know of a US Financial ( including Investment banks), possibly something smaller and more Regional that looks good going forward that pays a small dividend, and has good growth prospects?
Thanks,
Stephen

Q: Hello, following up from my last question...I was referring to WFC (Well Fargo and Company), I'm not sure why Wall Financial showed up. Also I was asking about HTB (US 7-10 yr Treasuries) With the US bond and WFC equity in the portfolio, is this too much equity risk? Thank you.
Q: Would the 8 year bond be a good investment? Need to place maturing bond money into another bond and Canada is a tough go. Or would another US Bank be better?
Q: Peter, while acknowledging you don't focus on US stocks, would you prefer Wells Fargo or Goldman Sachs for a long-term hold? Thanks, James
Q: Financials are currently 7% weighting in my portfolio (RY, BNS, TD, CIX, MFC, JPM). I have some cash and was thinking of bumping up to 10% weight. I know you like BNS, IGM and SLF. WFC looks appealing but the 30% premium on the USD is concerning to me. Any other recommendations? Looking for something at the middle to lower end of the risk spectrum. Thanks
Q: Hello 5i team
I hold a 4% position and have done quite well seeing a 16% increase while collecting a very nice dividend.
A suit is being brought forward by Credit Unions that failed under the weight of Mortgage-backed Securities they bought from WFC prior to 2009. I have read one article stating WFC remains a buy recommendation with a ratings score of A, and 3 others (including Bernstein) downgrading the bank.
Can you please share any opinion you may have in this matter and what your advice for me moving forward might be - hold or sell.
Thanks for all you do
Gord

Q: Hi There
WFC.PR.J - what do you think the likelihood is, given the high coupon, that it will be called and if so when you think that might be?
Thanks

Q: Hi There
I was interested in your comment about WFC.PR.J - 8% coupon.
Would there be any withholding tax on a preferred share held in an RRSP?
Thanks

Q: Hi,
Any thoughts on Wall Financial (WFC:TSX)? Its very thinly traded and I suspect most of the float is held by the Wall family. That being said, the dividend yield seems attractive and the company may be a good candidate to be taken private. I'd appreciate any overall comments you may have.
Thanks,
Scott
