Q: Hi 5i,
AJG's GICS Sub-Industry classification is "Insurance Brokers".
Can you help suggest some Canadian listed Insurance Brokers stock that might be worth looking at for a TFSA and or NonReg account.

Q: Hello 5i Team

I am reviewing US listed Property and Casualty Insurance companies for the US dollar portion of my RRSP account (in order to receive dividends without US withholding tax).

I understand Brookfield Reinsurance Ltd (BNRE) is a Bermuda based corporation and is not subject to withholding taxes in an RRSP.

Questions:

1 – Is BNRE a suitable candidate?

2 – Please list other US listed P&C insurance companies for consideration in order of preference.

Thank you

Q: Can you recommend 5 top value Canadian and 5 USA companies that have solid long-term businesses, with great management, a good P/E and have no debt or very low debt. Would really like to find a solid core of buy and hold names in any sector. It would appear to me that SLF would be one good choice.
Thanks!

Q: Hi,
Of this list do any of these names have concerns and if so, what might they be? Are there any you would wish to wait longer before buying? Any you do not think appropriate buys in this market? Others you feel are more compelling? If you were to buy these, in what order would you do so? I know - lots of questions - feel free to deduct accordingly! My preference is for stability of future earnings, lower or no debt and the dividend is a bit of a bonus, but not something to rely on. Many thanks!
Dawn

Q: Hello I was wondering if you know of any ETF's like the ZEB for banks that would represent the insurers either traded in the US or Canada that you would recommend for a long term hold in and RRSP. DRIP eligible preferred.

Q: I currently hold Markel (MKL) for some conservative balance to my portfolio, and I have (had) high hopes as it's commonly called a 'mini Berkshire' and hey, it's insurance they always win... While my position is still up, it's underperformed relative to my expectations. Further, I'm increasingly anxious about how extreme weather events (read climate change - fires, hurricanes, floods) will effect the insurance business.

In light of the above, I have two questions:
1. How do you feel about MKL, and;
2. Can you recommend an insurance company that is less exposed to property and more exposed to life insurance, travel insurance, or other?

Best.
