Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: No specific question, just a thank you.
I have been a member for 7 years and always look at your various resources before making any buy/hold or the more difficult sell decisions. I have always been disciplined in your suggested sector diversification and portfolio weighting. LSPD proof of portfolio weighting. Initial purchase at $35.00 and trimmed 1/3 at $150.00 (It still went up to $165.00. Oh well still slept better). After the short attack I trimmed again at $110.00 and it went back up. Today I still feel good holding a stock up 142% with a big payout on the trimming and a portfolio weighting of 3.5%. The decline was not as dramatic as it could have been. It was very hard to trim a stock on such an upward trajectory (still looking for that 10 bager). Thank you for the continued reminder of portfolio weighting and being able to sleep at night.

Q: What crappy news to wake up this a.m. All down substantially pre market

When you consider the results of each of these companies and they were all current holdings at reasonable weightings would you hold, sell, or buy more given the levels they have fallen to and your outlook going forward?

Q: I need to do some trimming of Lightspeed due to substantial gains since purchase at $20 to $25. I am undecided though as to whether to wait for the quarterly report which I think comes out on Nov.4. I read the estimates in your answer to a recent question, $124 m revenue and loss of $0.18. In your opinion would meeting these estimates provide stability to the stock price. Do you know of any general consensus out there as to whether it will meet, miss or beat estimates. I realize this last question involves some guess work so please feel free to leave it out in your response.
As always many thanks for the great service!

Q: I would like to add to 5 of the above positions in my TFSA. Based on the current environment, which 5 positions would benefit the most from a larger base. Thank you.

Q: Good morning!

I hold a 1/2 position in Magna. I do believe in this stock longterm. With the shortages and things appearing to be priced in. Is it time to top up to a full position?

On a separate question what are your highest conviction growth pics in TECH for the 4Q.
Preferably US but can spribkle some Canadian names as well.

Thank you for the amazing input and service. It's been immeasurable.

Q: Hi Peter and staff,
Thanks for the great information that you guys provide.
These are the holdings in my wife's TFSA account. I have owned CNR since March of 2020 and have done quite well but I'm wondering if this stock has reached the top of the price range and it's time to move on. The average Price Target is $165. Do you think that CNR still has upside or can you name two stocks to replace it.

Thanks and have a great day

Q: I have been tempted to buy Lightspeed to put in my tfsa, as i see it falling. It is hard for me to judge, though, whether a fairly new stock, like this and quite volatile is appropriate for a retired person. I have a moderately high risk tolerance. But is this too risky for that demographic, do you think?
Thanks as always
