Q: We are selling our house and will be renting a condo instead, so I’ll have 500k to put in the stock market. My current portfolio is mainly Canadian dividend stocks and bonds, providing me with plenty of retirement revenue. I am light on non-Canadian stocks and was looking at buying the above-mentioned stocks for a long term holding period (10+ years). Do you have issues with any of these stocks, and if so, what are those? I happen to be a customer/user of these companies, except for PFE. thanks,

Q: Hi
In a past question I was provided these US stocks to purchase: VZ, DUK, GILD, ABBV, O. I was looking for: low to moderate risk and high dividend yields I am again looking for another 5 to 7 stocks with similar criterion. As I am trying to build a US portfolio, please provide some diversification suggestions as well. Thanks, Len

Q: Hi Peter and Staff

Looking at my health care basket, I have a couple of losers in it VEEV and VTRS.

I have had losers I regretted selling and losers I wish I had not wasted opportunity cost on.......I am fine doing either....Do you think the risk/reward of selling either or both of these to top up ABBV,PFE,SYK or JNJ would be a good move in the long run ignoring how many positions I have or should I hang on. If a sale is suggested which order would you top up the 4 stocks mentioned.

Thanks for all you do
Dennis

Q: Hello 5i team,

Need an opinion on resizing my healthcare investment.

I hold GILD, ABBV, PFE in our portfolio; ABBV & PFE are doing well while GILD is barely breaking even. Your thought in replacing GILD with JNJ or go to IHI - a medical devices ETF.

Thank you !

Q: Hi Folks,
I've held GILD in my TFSA now for a couple of years and I'm down 27%, time to let it go. I also hold ABBV, PFE and MDT all performing well - can you suggest a replacement for GILD - looking for a company paying a dividend with some growth. Appreciate your suggestion.
Thanks

Q: Hi 5i,
Hope you are all well.

My wife's portfolio accounts (RSP,TFSA,CASH) on a consolidated basis show the following asset allocations by % sector type:

Tech --- 38%
Telec -- 0%
Financ - 4.6%
Cons --- 6.8%
Mater -- 0.6%
Reits -- 1.8%
Energy - 3.8%
Util/Pip - 4.0%
Indus --- 2.6%
Health - - 0%
CASH --37.8%

Obviously, quite a few glaring gaps to fill ... could you please suggest some top of mind positions in the key underallocated sectors that would provide a more rational and balanced portfolio thesis.

Thank you very much,
Dean

Q: I currently hold Abbvie and PFE in our portfolio. I'm looking to add another in the healthcare sector, such as Eli Lily, Merck or Danaher. Do you have a preference among thee to add or another?

Q: I would like to add more healthcare to both my Canadian and US portfolios. I am OK with ETF's, or, good stocks that you like. I currently own small positions in NBLY and WELL, so I would be looking for something outside of those two companies. My timeframe for the investment is long-term (10+ years).

Thanks in advance

Q: I have some extra USD money from a small US pension that is used for going to Florida in the winters. Since we have not gone in the last two years, I would like to put some of it in our TFSA. My questions are, if I buy say TD on the NY stock exchange would the dividend in US dollars be subject to 15% withholding tax. Could you please give me several companies I could buy into if this is true. Could you also give me several US companies or ETF's that would give me a dividend and hopefully growth for a long term hold. Thank you for all the help I get for being a member. Gary

Q: I am underweight in the Healthcare sector with only a 1.5% holding in Well. Could you suggest US and Canadian securities which would be suitable for a solid performing “ core” holding?

Secondly, I am down 39% in WELL. Should I have any concerns picking up additional shares at this level?

Q: I'm in the process of rebuilding my portfolio for 2022. It would be helpful if you could share with me a list of both Canadian and American companies that meet the following criteria:
1. They are some of your favourite companies from a fundamental perspective
2. They are currently buying back their own shares.
3. They offer a decent dividend.
4. They run businesses that offer good growth prospects for next year.
5. They currently offer good value.
6. These companies are so solid they would classify as 'core ' holdings.
At least six companies in each list would be appreciated.

Finally, I would like to express my gratitude for the support and ideas you have shared this past year. Definitely one of the best advisory services available to Canadians,
