Sold my SMCA and have $30K U.S. to invest . I can buy 3 of these, which 3 do you like for 36- 48 months?

Q: Hi Peter,
Is US dividend stocks suitable for RRIF with no withholding tax? My thinking is that US dividend does not receive any tax benefits in non registered account and is taxed like interest income. With on-shoring and tariffs, US inflation will not eased too much, and may go up again in the next few years. Hence, interest rate will not be much lower and consumers spending will be weaker for longer. Giving this scenario, and for my RRIF account, what will be your top picks for US dividend paying stocks with solid balance sheets, that will able to maintain their share price and dividend payments through a mild recession? Thanks.

Q: So it looks like we are heading into a real electric energy shortage in the US. What utility companies are going to prosper into the next 5 years. Sad to think that coal is not showing any signs of a slow down.

Q: I just initiated a position in NEE about a week ago. With the dividend cut forecast and now down about 4% in the past 5 days, do you still see NEE as a hold?

Q: Was just about to step in to my first purchase of NEE when they make a big equity sale announcement at $50? Am I getting that right? The stock trades at $69 today. That seems extreme. The news release is very hard for me to decipher. Can you explain this in layman's terms and whether this is good or bad for today's valuation? Q: Hi, with the relatively attractive PE ratio of Utilities and the proxy play of increased energy consumption demands of AI, can you recommend 3 Canadian Utilities and 3 US Utilities with a growth focus for a 2-3 year hold, and your thoughts on each.

Q: I currently hold Enbridge in a taxable account and I am thinking of selling it and purchasing a stock in the same sector that has more growth and likely a smaller yield. While I prefer Canadian companies US listed stocks would be considered if they are more attractive.

Now I know generally we're not supposed to take analyst ratings that much into account with maybe the exception of "..are the analysts ratings trending up or down".

Is that the theory I should be be taking with analysts ratings? What's 5i philosopy on analysts ratings and do you take note of any prominent analysts in the investment field?

Those questions aside Neil Kalton from Wells Fargo with a similar rating but an average of half of Angie's came out with a rating for Nextera Energy NEE on the same day as her. His is for a target price of $85 and hers is for $44. It seems mind boggling how two analysts can have both and upside of 30% percent and a downside of 30% on the same stock on the same day being the most recent analyst opinions on the stock??? What is your price point for NEE today, Is it a buy, sell or hold. What price would you get in at because I'd like to average down on the position I have on it now. Thanks for the help to clear things up.

Q: I read a piece In the G&M by Rosie on the weekend re: nuclear energy as a potential outperformer. It mentioned the above firms as potential investments. I did a little homework and of the Cdn firms, the only 1's I thought worth investing in were the ETF and ATRL. I was unfamiliar with the U.S. firms . Can you shed some light on them please? I do have positions in Hammond Power, SMCI & Vertiv, which I'm pleased with and am thinking of adding to. Thanks for any light you can shed on this for me to enhance an informed decision.
