Brookfield Renewable Partners L.P. Limited Partnership Units (BEP)
Q: Hello 5i,
I am considering purchasing BEP:US to meet my P.A. targets for both Sector (Utilities) and Geography (U.S. & International).
In researching BEP, all I could find was one pie chart that indicated its geographical footprint as being 50% U.S., 35% Canada, and 15% Brazil.
While this will work for me, my question is "how accurate is that as a geographical breakdown?" It seems to be all I could find.
Can you offer any other suggestions for Utilities with a greater U.S./International bent? U.S.-denominated is preferred - as is a comparable dividend...
Many thanks for any insights you may have.
Cheers,
Mike

Q: If I have to trim Tech to get more diversification, what would be your top three picks in each of Basic Materials, Utilities and Industrials. They can be either Cdn or US companies or a combination thereof. Thanks
Q: Thank you for the quick response to my earlier question today about sector outperformance. I had asked for three sectors EXCLUDING Technology, so could you please give me one more sector, it's rationale for outperformance, and two dividend paying stocks (US or CAN) within that sector? Thank you very much, again.

iShares U.S. High Yield Bond Index ETF (CAD-Hedged) (XHY)
-
E Split Corp. Class A Shares (ENS)
Q: Curious about yields. It feels like the yield on ETF XHY remains around the level it was several years ago (~6%) despite other stocks yielding much higher returns. Shouldn't those ETF holdings (high yield corporate bonds) be ticking upwards too which should drive the ETF yield higher? Maybe there is a time-delay as they have to reset?
So with various stock yields as high as they are I would like to try to benefit from the yields AND set up for capital gains on the same stocks that *should* pop as interest rates normalize and fall a bit. What are 3 CAD and 3 USD stocks that fit the bill? (High current yield AND good likelihood to strong share price increase in 1-3 years.) And where would ENS fit relative to those suggestions?

Q: Can you recommend some Canadian and U.S. companies in the renewable energy space and suggest a reasonable entry point?
Q: Hi
What is so great about Nextera Energy. They have almost doubled their debt since 2018 from about 38 billion to 72 billion. They have been raising their dividend roughly 10% a year and not even coming close to earning it. Their FCF per share alone in 2022 was Negative .74 Cents, yet their paying out $1.69..
The 2 years prior was just as bad. The return on their assets in 2021 was only 1.44% and 2022 was 1.57%

Could you please provide 5 names and rate them in order of preference and why.
Would prefer U.S. exposure though Canadian is fine as well.
Thank you.

Q: Good morning 5i; I would appreciate your assessment on the stock performance of NEE in the medium term based on the no/slow growth announcement today. The stock has dropped 8.2% on the news, which ironically was the same day it was selected for Morgan Stanley's dividend playbook. I hold it for modest growth and $US dividend diversification. I'll likely swap out if I conclude it has the hallmarks of an underperformer.
Q: Hi 5i, my NEE.PR.Q shares settled, I had 320 share so was expecting 320 times $50 = $16000, What I got was 218 shares of NEE which is $15097 and the shares immediately went down 4.41% to $14,431. I am very disappointed with these preferred shares. Can you explain what happen.
Q: Thoughts on this company, trading below $US 70.
Does it show good potential going forward?
Thnx

Q: Can you please help me with calculating NextEra Energy’s payout ratio. I have been using the annual dividend per share divided by the adjusted EPS. So for 2023, I expect it to be between 60% and 63%, as they expect adjusted earnings to be in the $2.98 to $3.13 range. And they are paying $0.4675 per quarter or $1.87 annually. If I use EPS before adjustments, the payout ratio jumps, and if I use cashflow from operations it drops. Is adjusted EPS the best number to be using? I keep reading that NEE has a conservative payout ratio, would you agree? Thanks for your help.
