Q: Hi Peter and staff,
Thanks for the great information that you guys provide.
These are the holdings in my wife's TFSA account. I have owned CNR since March of 2020 and have done quite well but I'm wondering if this stock has reached the top of the price range and it's time to move on. The average Price Target is $165. Do you think that CNR still has upside or can you name two stocks to replace it.

Thanks and have a great day
Joe

Q: Good morning,

I currently have AXP, V, MA and PYPL in my portfolio. I’m wondering if I should sell something to reduce redundancy and if so, in which order, given the outlook for growth?

Also in the same sector, I have on my watchlist AFRM, NVEI and SQ, all of which seem to have a long runway ahead. Should I add one or more of these new names either by selling from the first group or just as an add?

I’m new to this forum and I’m very appreciative of your insights. Thank you in advance!

Doris

Q: Crypto currency seems on the rise. Good short article today in Barron's. This is a real threat to visa and mastercard business models. I would not want to own those stocks. On the other hand, Versa bank (vb) should benefit and they are about to get us broker coverage with their pending Nasdaq listing. It could see a huge increase in share price. Gosh the company even makes good money.

Q: Good afternoon,
I have about a 5% of both LNR and MG in my TFSA and have owned them since 2017.
Although I have seen reasonable returns LNR has lagged behind MG. I'm looking to sell LNR and get into something that has more growth can you please suggest two or three Canadian companies and a possible entry point.

Also I have owned AQN sing March 2020 and it has not done anything and thinking of switching over to POW BAM.A or any other suggestions and a possible entry point.

Thanks.

Q: Hello Peter

I sold recently almost 50% of my US stocks:ADBE,AMZN,TEAM,NFLX,MA & MSFT from my unregstr. acct. and I do not want to keep cash and I do not want to buy US stocks.

Please provide me with idea of 5 Canadian stocks that are reasonably safe and be kept for 2 to 3 years, or 2 Canadian stocks very safe with little growth.

Q: Hi,

My question is of the companies I've listed, which 2 or 3 would you add to for a 5-10 year horizon. I currently own all of these, with no total value exceeding $500.

I am just starting a small portfolio and have $1000 USD to put into my RRSP to add to these exisiting stocks.

How would you rank them?

Thanks!

Q: I'm heavy in financial stocks and would like to reduce the number of holdings. In what order from best to least would you rank these companies for a long term hold. I'd like to mention that this question function is a tremendous feature. Thanks for the excellent and speedy answers to my previous questions. I feel very supported.

Q: Hello. I am a new subscriber and this is my first question. I have been "practicing" self directed investing for the past year with about 20% of my registered assets. I think I have a pretty good grip on the basics and am now ready to move ahead and invest the balance of my assets into the market. I am going to use your portfolio construction recommendations as a guideline. According to the plan, I am already heavy in # of stocks and lack solid allocation and diversification. The stocks I listed are the ones that are dragging down the portfolio and for the most part do not belong in the mix. If I sell now all the losses seem to be quite significant representing approx. 3.5% of my current portfolio of stocks and about 1.3% of my total available assets. I have the option of holding on hoping for recovery and using other cash to strengthen my good positions and add to more diversified positions. Or should I simply sell and move on with a clean slate to re-build the portfolio?

Q: Am I missing any major sectors with these stock investments?
Where should I focus if I would like to ensure a diverse portfolio?
Are there any stocks that I should dump?
