Q: Could you please explain to me why Bam. has such a small dividend at1.1%, compared to Bip. at 4.08 and Bep at 4.46. Also, which of the three might fare better in a downturn. Thanks, Ken

Q: I own 3 banks: CM:CA, BMO:CA and BNS:CA. I am thinking of selling CM:CA and split the proceeds to buy 2 Brookfield positions. What would you recommend between BIP.UN, BPY.UN, BIP.UN? Thank you

Q: Dear 5i,
I currently hold BIP in my USD account because it pays dividends in USD.
When the proposed share split is implemented;
1. What happens if one holds BIP in a USD account?
2. What happens if one holds BIP.UN in a CDN account?
3. Should I "journal" BIP to my CDN account prior to the split?
I'm afraid I didn't understand the bulletin on the Brookfield site.

Q: Brookfield Infrastructure Partners L.P. (“Brookfield Infrastructure” or “BIP”) (NYSE: BIP; TSX: BIP.UN) today announced the intention to create a Canadian corporation in order to provide investors with greater flexibility in how they access BIP’s globally diversified portfolio of high-quality infrastructure assets.

Foresee any negative consequence from this structure?

Q: With the world feeling a little uneasy about a pending recession, I want to keep only holdings that will weather a downturn. I'm not trying to time the market, and want to hold stocks, that while they may dip, have good balance sheets, good management, and will likely see a recovery. Others I will sell and hold the cash. Above are my current holdings. Do you see any that may be susceptible to excessive weakness in a recession and would therefore meet my sell criterion? Thanks,

Q: Not a question but information about dividends received from the above. I have my investments at Questrade, and hold the Canadian-listed in my LIRA and TFSA and the U.S.-listed in my Spousal RRSP. I have been receiving the Canadian dividends (as per close of day Bank of Canada exchange rate) paid into my Canadian account without any fee and U.S. dividends paid as announced into my U.S. side of the account. This occurred without me making any request of Questrade. I believe it is because Brookfield pays the dividend to the brokerage in the currency of the stocks held.

Q: Hi Ryan A few months back I a full position in this stock I hold it in the US side of my account at RBC direct investing .
The Dividend arrives at Computer share their transfer agent converted to Can $ it is then transferred as to RBC in C$ RBC then allocates the funds to the the various accounts those on the Canadian side get C$ those who hold the stock on the US side get it reconverted to US$ this gyration cost me 2.5% of my dividend.
Canadian investors should be aware of this .
