Q: If President Trump is returned to office on November 5th, and given his promise to unleash American oil and gas production, would energy service stocks experience a significant tail wind. If yes, please provide your top suggestions, both U.S. and Canadian. Thanks

Q: Several of the oilfield service providers were financially crushed or bankrupt when the price of oil dropped to below zero. Those that survived are probably in a fairly good position. Although government policies are doing everything possible to discourage investment in the energy sector, there will be a time when reality sets in and investment in the sector will be supported. Can you recommend some financially strong companies in the oilfield service sector. Thank you

Q: I have a question for 5i with respect to the “oil service subsector” of the energy sector. I currently own some pipeline stocks (large cap) and some E&P stocks (one small cap and one mid cap), however, I do not own an oil service stock at the present time. So…. I have some questions and would appreciate your views on the subsector.

With E&P companies focused on balance sheets, and returning capital to shareholders, are those management actions having any impact on the oil services sector?? Your views please.

If you think the oil services sector is not unduly impacted by the E&P focus outlined, how do you view the services sector – is it a favourable view??

How might one invest in the sector, would I be better off with a large cap like Schlumberger, Baker Hughes, or Haliburton and if so which one (s) would you favour? If not, are there smaller cap companies that warrant some investor attention and what names come to mind, would your focus be US based or Canadian based – thanks in advance.

Q: Do you see any second derivative opportunities to the current bull market in commodities? More specifically, are there any tanker shippers you favour in this environment, like NAT and TNK, or dry bulk shippers, like DSX or SBLK? With the possibility of a reinvigourated US oil and gas industry, what are your views on service companies such as HAL, SLB, and BKR? Thanks.

Q: I am looking to offset some capital gains received this year from PEO and PHO (thanks!). Currently I have the following holdings in a loss position, in order of dollars down: TDOC, TV, XBC, HAL, XEG, NFI, SQ, TECK.B, XTC, WELL, ENGH, PLTR. I would need to sell the first six to fully offset the gain, or could sell more if using those in a smaller loss position. How would you rank these holdings in order of selling, and which of these would you look to buy back after 30 days (if any)? Note that these are held within a broad portfolio that I am also looking to consolidate.

Q: SLB is finally turning green, really green in our holdings. I did trim a bit today and appreciate having your opinion on whether we should buy, sell or hold? Or switch to other names in the same sectors that may have more room to run: Halliburton or Baker Hugues or diversifying the risk in IEZ - an ETF . Thank you!

Q: Good Day. On July 29th, Haliburton (HAL) announced a 'modified dutch auction' in order to re-purchase shares. Are there specific advantages in this process as opposed to a regular re-purchase of stock?
Can I have your outlook on HAL for the next 2 to 5 years.
Finally, any plans for a US Model Portfolio that I see is in place for Canadian securities.

thanks,
