Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: Dear 5i team.

I would like to look at a small investment in defence/war munitions sector companys or ETF. Can you suggest 3-5 names that cater to "War" efforts that can be considered a DIY ETF? As well, which ETF(s) would you consider for this exercise. Ideally one with the lowest BA %.
Finally, are these Co's trading at resonable valuations, or has this ship sailed, so to speak?

Many thanks for your help.

Q: Can you recommend any stocks that would benefit if China invaded Taiwan? I was thinking along the line of military, resources, submarine, sea technology stocks, etc. But if you know of any other ones that would be great too. Thanks.

Q: Elbit has pulled back but perhaps basing and I'm wondering whether this an opportunity. What are your thoughts on their prospects? I own NOC and would like to add another name in the sector - would you go with ESLT or suggest another name? Thanks

Q: What is the teams favorite in the defense armed forces area? Elbit systems( ESLT ) seems to have very positive momentum but PE is over 30;while other majors in this area are have a PE apx. 20. What is the teams opinion of ESLT compare to the other majors in this field. Also please include thoughts on LMT, GD,RTX, and the TSX traded MAL.
Much appreciated Douglas

Q: Hi 5i,

I am having some trouble finding the percentage of their respective business is in cybersecurity. Would you have this breakdown?

How would you rank the 5 for overall growth?

TIA

Q: Hi Peter & team,
I bought LMT in Sept/2014. The company has performed well when adding dividends total return close to 16% per annum. My concern is the longer I hold LMT return is decreasing... 5-year total return is under 10%. Since early 2020 LMT has underperformed the SPY. Considering a trade for GD that is showing a higher valuation with stronger forecasted growth? GD has also outperformed LMT significantly over past year. Considering LMT in a taxable account decision not clear. Seeking 5i's perspective on making this trade to GD or continue to hold LMT? Thanks in advance for sharing your great perspective and insight.

Q: hello 5i:
could you give me 3 ideas for "best in class" Industrial, US stocks? And possibly a short thesis on why you think so. RTX and GD are already owned in this sector.
thanks

Q: Greetings,

I need to add an industrial and a consumer staple/discretionary to my overall well balanced US portfolio. After reviewing a number of options, my top in each category are GD and HBI. I am looking for some growth and a dividend as I am nearing retirement. I am betting that GD will continue its strong growth and HBI will turn things around. Your thoughts and do you have a better recommendation in each sector?

Thanks

Q: A guest of BNN suggested that seniors looking for yield should consider the larger US Industrials. He feels that the Industrial sector is already in recession and priced lower that results in good yields. Need to select ones with ability to continue paying dividend thru a rough patch.
Could you suggest ones that align with this theory.
