Investment Q&A
Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.
Q: Looking to increase industrials in my US TFSA account, would you recommend F or J or a combination of both for a 3-5 year hold?
Q: Given policies recently introduced in many countries (US, Europe, Japan, etc.) aimed at encouraging legacy car manufacturers to switch to making battery electric vehicles and given that many of these manufacturers have since announced commitments to doing just that, setting aside Tesla, which of the major car makers do you see as having the best potential to profitably achieving these goals? I'm more interested in identifying the best among the big players: Ford, GM, Toyota, BMW, etc.

Q: I want to consider buying a small group of stocks (5-10) that would capture the future growth (my assumption) of electric vehicles. These could be vehicle manufacturers, companies supplying key input/parts or other beneficiaries of EV growth. Do you have suggestions?

Q: Peter and His Wonder Team
I know I am way behind but I have just been reading about how autonomous-EV are going to be a hugh disrupter...I guess it is called TaaS. Does your Growth Portfolio have any exposer to this phenomena? If not do you have any suggestion of stocks that still have reasonable upside with this innovation. Thanks!

Q: Your thoughts on rivian as an investment opportunity? Level of debt? Insider ownership? Technological advantages?
Q: Hi,
Despite chip shortages, I'm considering taking my first position in a vehicle manufacturer. I'm specifically interested first in LCID and second in F. While I expect F to have some very experienced managers/executives/board members, what can you tell me of the people directing LCID? Lots of previous experience and are they up for the task?

Q: Hi Peter and crew. I know that US tech companies are "not in your wheel house" and I also know that you have great insight. so I am interested in your opinions on the following.
I am watching that both Rivian and Global Foundries Inc. are applying to the SEC this fall to go public. Both appear to be in a good space for long term trends/needs. I am interested in long term investing in these companies when they come to market.
Thoughts?
BTW - Peter, Loved the article in the FP about your father-in-law. Maybe the 2 above companies will give him " the action" he is looking for!

Q: Suggestions on how to invest to benefit from Biden’s proposed increased EV incentives to buy US manufactured electric vehicles? This potentially could speed up the transition (once the chip shortage is rectified).
Q: Good Afternoon Team, Thanks for your wonderful service. It helping me build a better portfolio. I have 2 stocks in Auto space Magna and Linmar. The current market value of both is the same. I know 5I is strongly recommending Magna. I am sitting on a good gain on Linmar and was thinking about switching it to Ford or GM. No tax consequences as its in TFSA. Have a long 3+ year outlook. The rationale for the same is to diversify within the same sector from Auto parts manufacturer to the Car manufacturer and look for higher growth over the years. Would you recommend the move, if yes which of the 2 stock you prefer or would you recommend something else. I have no other holding in Auto industry.
Thanks
Thanks

Q: Hi,
I have no exposure to electric vehicles (EV’s) within my portfolio.
As I not interested in investing in any Chinese EV stocks I am quite limited to Tesla.
However, I am not very comfortable with the cult like following of Tesla.
Is there anyway I could get some exposure to this disruptive industry , directly or indirectly and would you be able to recommend a few stocks ?
Thanks

Q: A family member would like to build a US dollar portfolio with US stocks. My thought would be to do it along the lines of the 5iR Cdn Balance Portfolio. For example, JPMorgan would be the US stock for the BNS. With this in mind, and being able to tolerate risk and for a long-term intention, like 10 years, what would you suggest the 15+ position US portfolio would look like?....Thanks...Tom
Q: What would be you opinion on Ford as a play in the electric vehicle (truck) space? With the price point announced for their electric F150 do you think this company could have years of good growth ahead? How does their financial well being look to you?
Thanks as always

Q: Under the heading “no question is a stupid question”. In your answer to Ford & NCR you stated Ford is 10X earnings & NCR is 14X earnings. From your companies page what numbers did you use to calculate those multiples. Thanks … Cal
Q: Would you see this dip in Ford below 12 as a good place to add to the name?

- I also have a new small position in STLA ( entry approx 17.50)
