Q: I already own APD. I had been watching it bought it less than a year ago after some bad news where the stock dropped 15% in a day. I am up 50% on it at this point.

I am considering adding LIN to my portfolio as it seems to have some favorable tail winds and ratings....however I am wondering if these stocks are different enough to provide any diversity. There is a lot of variety on industrials. Am I picking two options that are too close together?

Q: Portfolio Analytics indicates that across all accounts, we are underweight in the Basic Materials sector. The two stocks and CGL.C listed above are the only holdings in this sector. (CGL.C is a small holding. as it can be traded with zero commission)

Please suggest some additional Canadian and U.S. stocks in this sector to improve diversification, include reasonable entry points, and rank them in order of what to purchase first.

For a Canadian ETF, what is your opinion of XMA?

Please deduct as many credits as necessary.

Thanks

Q: Hi Everyone at 5i!! I was considering adding the following to my dividend/growth retirement portfolio: APD, AOS, and GPL. I would value your thoughts on the suitability of these stocks for such a portfolio and the stability of these stocks in a recession. Cheers, Tamara

Q: Hello 5i
Could you please provide me with the best Palladium and Neon play out there please? Please mention why you like the choice. Would it be better to side with Neon
as its supply from Mariupol and Odessa (Ingas and Cryoin) will be affected for a long time...or 37% of Pallidium comes from Russia and that will probably never come back to markets here. Or is there another element in chip manufacturing that you are thinking of?
Thank you
J

Q: A great service could please recommend your top 5 helium plays. I think if you look into it you will see a diminishing supply and an increasing demand. In interesting and growing industries microchip production, medicine and outer space. Could you let me know when you will cover this topic.
I currently like Dme, heli and RHC. Dme seems to be way ahead and an Esg type company. Keep up the great work.

Q: Australia seems uniquely positioned to join and / or lead the green energy wave with both ample green resources and rich mineral deposits.
Whereas electric may have "won" the automotive market, still up for grabs are the heavy industrial applications - trucking, shipping, aviation, steel production....
Reference the Fortesque move into green steel production via green hydrogen.
Do you see any opportunities here, how to participate? When will this put pressure on conventional steel like LIF?

Thanks,

Jim

Q: What is the future of Dupont? The company did acquisitions then merger then sold some business and finally split in three but company never grew? Your suggestions. Should I switch to DOW-N which I got when DWDP (DowDupont) split or APD-N which is betting on new $7-bil Hydrogen plant project?

Q: I've learned recently that mRNA-based vaccines require extra cold storage (-70C; dry ice temperature). This will be a logistical challenge if such vaccines are approved. Two-part question:

1. Your thoughts on the impact of this logistical challenge on PFE/BNTX and MRNA?

2. Dry ice (solid CO2) lasts only about 3 days in insulated packages. Widespread mRNA vaccine distribution might depend on having a lot more dry ice produced at facilities near airports, shipping hubs, and smaller distribution centers. Any ideas for a play on dry ice via companies selling dry ice production equipment?

Many thanks! New subscriber this year and very satisfied!

Q: Hi, I'm looking to add another stock in the "Materials and Energy" category in which I already hold Methanex, Parkland and Chemtrade all at about 1%. I'm not keen on a pure energy (i.e no oil, Nat Gas or pipeline) play but have been watching the three mentioned stocks. Of these three, which would you prefer today and would you add any? Long term holder.

Thx.
