Q: Hi Folks
I am looking to add to my Health Sector, currently holding ABBV, PFE, GILD and WELL in various accounts. I have CVS and MRK in mind to add - which one would you recommend at this time and why ? Appreciate your comments.
Thanks

Q: Good morning 5i,
I have a loss in Gild and have been waiting for a time to claim it and buy a replacement. It seems to me that the recent drop in Abbivie might provide that opportunity, unless there is something I don't see. Would you think that this would be the best opportunity in this field at the moment?
thanks as always for your great work

Q: In your answer to Denis on April 26 you mentioned some "safe holdings" when a recession threatens. What areas would you suggest and some good stocks to hold? Many thanks.

Q: Hello, what are your thoughts on Abbvie vs Anthem? I have recently purchased both but thinking about moving it all to Anthem as I heard that Abbvie will be losing its patent on one of its most successful drug in the new year. I am diversified, currently own Stryker as well. Thoughts?

Q: Hello Team 5i,

I recently sold GUD, my only CDN. or US. Health Care holding. Could you recommend one or more replacements for me? Not sure what your current suggested health Care portfolio weighting should be but that might figure into your response.

I read something recently that indicated that the S&P/TSX Health Care index is down 58% between March 2021 and 2022, might that be correct? If so, would you say this would be a good time to be buying?

Thanks for your wisdom

Q: Hi Peter and Staff

Looking at my health care basket, I have a couple of losers in it VEEV and VTRS.

I have had losers I regretted selling and losers I wish I had not wasted opportunity cost on.......I am fine doing either....Do you think the risk/reward of selling either or both of these to top up ABBV,PFE,SYK or JNJ would be a good move in the long run ignoring how many positions I have or should I hang on. If a sale is suggested which order would you top up the 4 stocks mentioned.

Thanks for all you do
Dennis

Q: Hello 5i team,

Need an opinion on resizing my healthcare investment.

I hold GILD, ABBV, PFE in our portfolio; ABBV & PFE are doing well while GILD is barely breaking even. Your thought in replacing GILD with JNJ or go to IHI - a medical devices ETF.

Thank you !

Q: Hi Folks,
I've held GILD in my TFSA now for a couple of years and I'm down 27%, time to let it go. I also hold ABBV, PFE and MDT all performing well - can you suggest a replacement for GILD - looking for a company paying a dividend with some growth. Appreciate your suggestion.
Thanks

Q: Good morning 5i

I am wavering between these two. I already own some abbivie. But I hesitate because it has shot up recently. I know you favour it. But I have seen several people lately, today Brian Acre, leaning towards bmy. Here is the reasoning of one such person:

The company has a strong pipeline of new drugs, but also a lot of patent expirations for its big existing drugs coming up, which means the company has to effectively rotate its portfolio of revenue-producing drugs in the coming years. To offset that risk, it is priced very cheaply, with a single-digit price/earnings ratio and a solid dividend yield. I think the current price offers a good accumulation zone.

I am wondering about your different approaches. Would it be that you favour growth more and they are looking for safe income?
Thanks as always

Q: Good morning. I am looking to add a new US dividend growth stock to my RRSP. My top contenders are Costco, Home Depot and McDonald's. What would be your top choice today? Do you have any better suggestions (stocks or REIT's)? Thank you.

Q: Good Morning. I am selling off some of my more volatile US tech stocks in my RRIF and am looking to redeploy the proceeds into US stable Dividend payors. Can you please suggest 5 or 6 US Dividend stocks ( other than US Tech) to look at? Thanks

Q: Hello,

I'm looking to buy 4 or 5 US medical stocks for a long-term hold (5+ years) with an above-average level of risk tolerance.

Could you please rank the stocks I've listed, and indicate if there are better choices.

Thank you!

Q: You used to be quite positive on GILD in response to subscriber questions asking for recommendations in the US Healthcare sector. Have you given up on the GILD turnaround story? At what price would you buy in?

Now, your top choice seems to be ABBV on the basis that it is performing better and your belief that Humira patent issues are well-known and baked into the stock price. However, ABBV is trading at an all-time high (not just a 52 week high) and GILD is trading at a price that is a 52 week low and lower than its closing price in 2013. Which stock has the better risk-return profile and why? Even if you think ABBV is the better long term investment, I am still nervous buying in at all-time high prices - what would be a good entry point on a pull-back?
