Q: Im over weight energy. And with recent run up and knowing you cant time tops and bottoms was thinking selling whitecap in a registered account to improve my balance. Im under weight us and international exposure and underweight (in order of percentage underweighted, most -least) consumer def, consumer cyclical , healthcare, industrials and tech . Was thinking of adding to topicus but like both growth and dividends. Not looking to fix all deficiencies but any suggestions of 1 stock that i can add to begin to improve my mix? Thx as always for great service.

Q: I'm down about 17% in Guardant Health and the downward track since the peak a year ago does not look appealing. I've read the most recent comments on this stock and you seem to suggest that it might be worth hanging on to or possible even buying more.
In a case like this, the question for me is always:
1) Should I get out now before it goes any lower, or should I hang in and hope it recovers by 17% in the next year?
2) If I do sell it, what would I buy that has a better chance of increasing 17% in the next year?
I recognize, of course that you don't have a crystal ball, but you DO have your eye on the ball and that's what I depend on.

I am down even more on Crowdstrike (25%) and the same dilemma applies.

Your thoughts please and deduct points as appropriate.

Q: Good morning everyone at 5i
I have been thinking of selling gild at a tax loss following their earnings report. Wondering what you would see as a replacement in order to buy back later. And should I buy back later or just keep the replacement. I already own abbievie in this sector.

Q: Hello 5i
I know that it is a good idea to either have a certain number of US stocks that are not represented in Canada, or an etf for the US market, in order to have a balanced portfolio. Fortunatly, or unfortunatly, I have both. And I am wondering whether I should either get rid of my stocks or get rid of my etf's. The above are the US stocks I hold. in pretty good percentages. If i were to hold only stocks what might you suggest to supplement these? I know that I am probably heavy in tech to really represent the US market and will probably have to trim here, maybe in percentages. any other suggestions appreciated. Most of these are held in tax sheltered accounts, so taxes shouldnt matter too much.
thanks as always

Q: for a RRIF and LIRA, what 5 names, both Cdn or US names would you suggest considering at this time. for the RRIF, more conservative suggestions as the funds will be withdrawn over the next 5 years and for the LIRA, a balanced approach with a tilt to growth, but excluding cyclical positions, that will be held for the long-term without active trading....thanks....Tom

Q: For context, this is a locked in RSP which will likely turn into a LIF and I am looking at this in terms of a dividend stream. Cashed in some cnq and have cash to deploy.

Of those mentioned, for relative safety of capital, good yield and yield appreciation, how would you rank these (cdn or us it does not matter). For eg, ABBV has an attractive yield but I am unsure of patents expiring etc. You thoughts.

Thank you

Q: At this time, what are your top picks (5 CDN, 5 US) for a 3-5 year hold in a registered account for an investor willing to take on an above average level of risk (but not high)? Sector does not matter. Thanks.

Q: I would like to add more healthcare to both my Canadian and US portfolios. I am OK with ETF's, or, good stocks that you like. I currently own small positions in NBLY and WELL, so I would be looking for something outside of those two companies. My timeframe for the investment is long-term (10+ years).

Thanks in advance

What names in Canada and the US are you most excited about in 2022/2023 that you view as meriting consideration?

Q: I have $20000 to invest in an resp account.

Given the ongoing fall in tech stock prices, I would like invest $10,000 to buy tech stocks low and hopefully sell high in 3 years.

Can you provide 5 Canadian stocks and 5 US stocks.

I also want to invest the other $10,000 in less volatile. Companies with a total return of 15% or more. (e.g. Energy, banks, insurance, etc...)

Can you provide 5 Canadian stocks and 5 US stocks
