Q: I bought these semis over the past few years in different accounts at different times in both non-registered and registered accounts. All of them did very well for me. I added them up yesterday and noticed they are over 5% of all my invested assets. As much as I hate to sell winners I probably would have to trim soon. Do you have any suggestions as to the trimming methodology? Reduce each and every one by half (or third) of its current value. Selectively sell some and not others? Sell the ones in registered accounts as there is no immediate tax consequence. keep the ones in taxable accounts? Sell some and keep the promising ones (can you tell or predict?) ? Any other suggestions? I have a high degree of risk tolerance. Thanks.

Q: Similar to a question I asked the other day, NVDA has had a nice increase in price in the last while, though not without some volatility.
5I has suggested that NVDA is a good growth opportunity; do you see growth continuing from its current level? Can you provide some context to why you like it at this time. Also, I am comfortable with its current weight in my portfolio; at what price level would you start to trim, or even sell the whole position?
Thanks you for your excellent service

Q: I have more tech equities than I want going forward. Please help me strike one or two off my list by ranking these in order of potential growth over the long term /min 5 years. For fun (since it probably won't affect my decision), please also rank from least volatility to most volatility. Thank you very much!

Q: Hi !

I am looking to invest in perhaps just one of the above companies.
I learned the hard way about prioritizing the preservation of capital.
Would you tell me which of the above companies is best in terms of highest chance of capital being preserved?

While I am here, would be able to suggest three other companies that are both poised for greatness and offer an excellent capital preservation profile?

Thank you!

Q: Just thoughts...First background -  I have an income, balance and growth portfolio that's invested in trade, TFSA and LIRA accounts...all similar to 5iR's...and also a US balance portfolio with a definite growth tilt...and I like to stay within the portfolio framework, aka add to existing stock positions which now total 100 positions. With cash on hand, I'm muddled about what to invest in, aka Cdn and US stocks? And here is the tug...there seems to be many other good stocks but from my reading of 5iR, it's better to stay with the ones you have or totally drop the existing position and move onto a new position. With that in mind, what are the Cdn 5iR positions would you suggest are a buy today or watch it for a buy? When it comes to the US, the draw for me today is to add to existing positions 'cause of the strength of the Loonie and the expectation that it will decline over the next few years relative to the Green Back. What would you suggest are US stock buys now for a longer term hold, like 5+ years. Thanks for the assistance.....Tom

Q: Help with Business 101 please. It seems counter intuitive that Nvidia is altering their chips so they’re less desirable for mining crypto currency? I understand crypto is a volatile market and Nvidia previously got caught with too much supply. But overall if 2 customers are willing to pay the same for a product, why would the company show a preference towards one buyer over another?
Also, regarding the chip shortage, I thought Nvidia produced chips but it sounds like they’ll be caught up in the shortage. What type of companies will benefit from the chip shortage if any? Thank you for providing this valuable service!

Q: Could you please rank these US stocks in terms of expected growth and safety for both the short term (1-2 years) and the long term (5-10 years)

Q: On May 10 in response to a question about ranking semis you said that QCOM is mostly a “royalty play” so may be “safer” than the others. I don’t know what you mean by this.
I have been rather frustrated by this stock, watching it go sideways or down in recent months whilst NVDA has performed much better. Would you encourage me to hang in there for a while vs sell for a loss and up my NVDA?

Q: When does the deal close? By when do you think better bids could appear?
(to replace PHO - what do you suggest?)
Also what semi play do you like? Do you like the manufacturers? Do you have a prefered play there?

Thanks
Mark

Q: Friday messy fun question, please take it lightly. I would like to start reducing the oil companies I bought in April last year. They've done incredibly well, but now I would like to increase my tech growth stocks by opening 1 or 2 new positions. I currently own GOOG, DND, U, CRWD, RDFN, ROKU, VEEV, PINS, and SQ. They have done well under your recommendations even with the recent pullbacks. As no one can time the markets, I am not willing to wait for a surprise interest hike as it is part of a locked-in RSP. It would be a 10+ hold. 1) Without considering size, could you please rank your favourite top 5 companies addressed in this question as of today in terms of strong balance sheet & steady growth potential over time (even in an interest hike environment). 2) Could you please give a brief explanation for the #1 pick only. Thank you very much as always!

Q: I am currently helping my wife to add new money to her TFSA account. She is currently holding DND, AC, EGLX and PLTR. Please suggest your favorite growth stocks (Canadian and US) taking into account the latest volatility and recent sector rotation from growth/tech and rising interest concerns. She is looking for 5-7 years time frame.

Q: What stocks would you look at that could be expected to benefit from the apparent shortage in chips? I have a 3-5 year horizon.

Q: Good day, I’m thinking with the better exchange rate of late, it would be a good time to buy more US shares inside a tfsa. We are very diversified across all accounts. Looking for some ideas. What are some growth names you would buy today? Already own most big tech, but would have no problem adding to them. Thanks so much as always
