Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: What are some of your favourite founder led growth companies that you would be comfortable investing in today (US and CAN)? I just finished the Motley Fool Investment Guide by David and Tom Gardner, and they are big on that component. Would you generally agree with them?
Thanks
Marc

Q: I'm really overweight in IT. Close to 35% but I need to get down to 20% or less. IT holdings are: KXS (3.1%); SHOP (16.9%); CSU (5.2%); TOI (0.4%); DND (0.2%); LSPD (2.0%); SYZ (1.4%); PHO (1.0%); CRWD (2%); NVDA (0.7%); DOCU (1.5%).

Not sure if it makes a difference but all are in TFSA except KXS, CRWD and DOCU (cash/margin account). Due to the fact that I'm working I don't want to trigger any taxable gains if possible. Obviously I need to trim SHOP by at least 1/2.

SYZ seems to be a laggard since it has only appreciated 45% in almost 7 years so I think I should sell that. Do you agree? (assuming a balanced portfolio).

Aren't DND and PHO going to be purchased?

I'm emotionally attached to the high gains otherwise... What's your suggestion on how to bring down my IT holdings in a tax efficient way?

Q: Hi,
If you had to pick, regardless of sector, the next top 5 Canadian and 5 U.S growth stocks with the highest potential return for the next decade, what would they be? I’m lucky to have return 4500% on SHOP and hunting for the next SHOP now. Thanks!

Q: HI

Thinking of selling my LSPD in my RRSP (358 Shares) and buying NVDA.

I also own XIT (1,000) shares in my RRSP.

This way I get more US stocks.

Your comments please.

Thank you

Mike

Q: What are your current thoughts about which United States companies you would recommend in a growth oriented portfolio. Some risk OK. Could you list and rank five of your favourites (apart from the FAANGs) and give an indication of risk.

Q: As a 20 year-old, can you suggest 6 high risk/high reward Canadian or US stocks for part of my investments (I would look to buy on dips)? Would you recommend a portion invested in cryptocurrencies or is this just really gambling with the high volatility? I have a 5-year time line.
Thank you!!

Q: I am looking to add 1/4 positions in my growth portfolio with AT and NVEI. Or I could add to my half positions in U, CRWD or NVDA. I would like your thoughts on which is better at this time for long term growth. I am underweighted in US stocks. Thanks

Q: Hi Awesome 5i team, I have some cash to invest, in Canada, I am thinking of "AT", "GSY" &"CTS", some of these names are at all time high, could you please rank them from risk/growth perspective. Given recent volatility of the market, could you please provide a good entry point if you will.

For US, please also provide three names that are growth oriented, and three reflationary driven. All are for long term investment.

Thanks,

Q: Hi guys, thanks for the excellent service. Generally TFSA is the place for high growth but my highest growth has been in my RRSP. Is there any compelling reason I should sell anything in RRSP and rebuy in TFSA (e.g., NVDA)? I realize I will be taxed on RRSP withdrawals while TFSA withdrawals are tax-free - but - my RRSP has a lot more cash than my TFSA so there isn't room to move all my growthy stuff over. Because of the relative size of RRSP to TFSA, if I were to do equal weighting of all stocks, I'd only have 4 different stocks in my TFSA, which perhaps is fine? Are there any obvious adjustments that you would make to the following:

RRSP:
XQQ 13.68%
VXC 12.03%
NVDA 7.64%
AAPL 6.70%
JPM 4.73%
BNS 4.52%
GOOG 4.32%
ENB 4.13%
MSFT 3.98%
AMZN 3.86%
RTX 3.51%
COST 3.42%
PG 3.11%
DIS 2.82%
CASH 1.32%

TFSA:
GSY 5.28%
CRWD 3.31%
VEEV 2.50%
ROKU 2.44%
SHOP 2.26%
WELL 0.85%
XBC 1.08%

RESP:
LSPD 0.79%
BYD 0.76%

NON-REG:
SLF 0.51%
T 0.42%

thanks,

Q: Hi,
I read an article called “The World Relies on One Chip Maker in Taiwan, Leaving Everyone Vulnerable” that appeared on the WSJ.

Apart from TDM, NVDA & INTEL, are there any others names in the industry that you could share or recommend?

Thanks,

Q: I have small holdings (1 1/2% to 2 1/2% of APTV (+24%)&TSLA(+12.6%) in my TFSA and DOCU(+18.6%), IDRV(+7.77%) & NVDA(+47.29%) in my cash ac over 7 month hold. Looking at adding some more USD and wondering if I should be adding to some of these or buying others. This would be a 3-5 year hold.
Take as many credits as you see fit.
PS: Thanks to you I am up 235% on shopify! Thanks for all you do.

Q: What companies do you see having the most influence or ability to bring the Metaverse to reality? I have been reading a fair bit about this, some think it will be the next version of the internet in conjunction with AR & VR. Using your crystal ball do you have any suggested companies for a long term plays.

Q: Hi Guys,
I am trying to reduce the number of stocks inside my portfolio. Your thoughts on a full position (5%) for the above stocks for a 5 year hold, within a balance/growth portfolio? Any revisions would be appreciated.
