Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: I've been looking at investing in one of the FAANG's + Microsoft. Some I don't find attractive despite their fairly attractive valuations:

Amazon - poor outlook

Apple - China production

Google -perhaps lower ad revenue near term, and it's such a large part of their business model.

Meta - uncertain future after change in business model.

I guess the above are cheaper for a reason. Would you see reason for optimism on any of the above?

I like MSFT and NVDA but can't get past current valuations. NVDA in particular looks attractive. AI seems to be a major disruptor going forward and it appears to me that NVDA has a moat in some parts of the AI world. Would you feel that it has the most avenues for growth too compared to the others ? How quickly can it grow into its current P/E, P/C and P/B valuations? They seemed so much more reasonable 10 years ago.

Q: How would you invest ‘23’s $6500 TSFA allowance? Is there 3 or 4 North American stocks you would buy tomorrow? DCA over the next month into one name? Not concerned about sector or risk - 10 year investment horizon.

Thinking SHOP, BN, NVDA and GOOG. All of which I own today and are down from when I purchased.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Q: These 3 stocks have fallen dramatically. NVDA and CRWD have had recent insiders sales. If you were to invest in these which order may you acquire them?

Also what is the difeerence between buying them on NASD or on the Canadian exchange.? Would you prefer one to the other?

Thank you

Q: Tough question for sure, but disregarding other personal factors (eg, diversification etc), if you could buy 3 Cdn stocks and 3 US stocks given YOUR assessment of the investment/economic landscape, what would they be? Let's say the only parameter is performance over the next 12 months.

Q: Now the tax loss season is over which would be your favourite 4-6 re-buys for January.
Publish at your discretion.

Q: Would you please provide me with 6 US and 6 CDN stocks that have gone down in price but their value, debt and upside don't justify the downward stock price. Some with big upside potential.

Thanks and Happy Holiday Season to you and all staff.

Q: I have purchased the above US stocks in the last 6 months. AMZN is down 15%, CRWD is down 27% and LNTH is down 25%. The rest are in the green. AMZN position size is twice as large as CRWD and LNTH. I have $10,000 more to deploy. Would you do a 33% split on the 3 or what are your thoughts on this?

Thanks

Q: Hi there,

I’ve often heard that a handful of stocks can provide life changing returns. If you had to pick 5 (or more) that could be life changing, which would they be in preferential order?

Thanks!

Q: I am managing RESPs for a two-year-old and a 4 -year -old grandchildren so there is a very long runway before they will need to start cashing in. The funds to invest available so far are fairly limited. I would like to add some US stocks but not sure it is worth the fees to convert to US $ and most of the good companies have high-priced shares. But I am familiar with Canadian Depositary Receipts (CDRs) and that there is a pretty wide selection of stocks available.
Can you suggest 4 of your favourite of these US CDRs that would be suitable for this type of investment?
Thank you.

Q: hi,
I hold these in my USD account. I'm trimming PFE today as it was getting too large a holding. could you please rank all as a current buy, sell, hold. I am a long term investor. and , could you provide 2-3 other US names, with a reasonable balance of growth and downside protection in this market. cheers, chris

Q: Hi,
I am up 84% in CELH in my TFSA. Considering selling 1/2 position and using the funds to purchase NVDA.
It will help me diversify because the only other US stock I have is GOOG.
Willing to wait 2 or 3 years to see NVDA return to it's former glory.
Sounds ok?
Or do you think CELH is just starting to really ramp-up and I should stay with it.
Thanks for your input.

Q: I am down on all of these by about 20%. If I sell them for a tax-loss harvest, what should I do for proxies? Also, since I have no capital gains for 2022, should I sell these stocks/ETFs in January to avoid a jump in stock price before the end of the year (as tax-loss harvesting season ends)?

Q: Hi Peter,

Do you see any "Generational opportunity", or "Once in a decade opportunity" for a Long time Invester in today's market.
