Q: I have some US funds I'd like to put to work in one or two of the mentioned names taking them from a half weight to a full 5% position. Regardless of sector weightings, which 2 do you like the most at current market valuations for capital appreciation over the next 5 to 8 years in a growth oriented portfolio? Thanks!

Q: HI again 5i (third try). We are a mid 70's couple needing to increase our monthly div. income slightly to satisfy our monthly RIF payout. Please suggest your best ideas to increase our low cash position and which monthly div. payers to add. We could take some profits or sell from among nflx, vmd, xhc, itx, vun, toy, iyt, zuh, atd.b, aem.
We have half positions in your income portfolio excluding cpd, cvd, plc, tcl.a, xhy.
We realize our fixed income is very low for our age group but with 10% of our 425k portfolio in slf and our 700k home adds some safety. Please deduct as many credits you see fit. Thanks so much.

Q: Gentlemen,
I hold these 5 companies in the U.S, market and wish to hold at 5. I know you don’t have my total portfolio to view but would you replace any of these companies with any others such as SQ, BOX or any others you wish to name? Thank you for your amazing service, you give me a confidence that didn’t exist before I joined you guys.

Q: Hi, AMZN and NFLX have always been hard to buy due to expensive valuations. I managed to accumulate AMZN shares, a few months ago when stock dipped due to Mr Trump's rhetoric. NFLX price has dropped after its recent results due to lower subscriber growth and softer guidance. How do you see the thereat of competition from Hulu, Disney and Amazon etc ? Do you think, it's an opportunity to buy/accumulate for a 5 years or longer hold ? Thanks

Q: Hi 5i, thank you for your service , the Q&A alone is worth every dollar.

I have big gains in (NFLX – 8%, NVDA – 8%, FB – 8%, GOOGL – 8%, AMZN – 7%) and I have already sold some of these companies previously but they keep rising! Some may say I have let these ride for too long already BUT… based on the Q&A I get a sense you think all of these “tech” stocks are market leaders and have lots of room for earnings growth, so part of me wants to keep them going as I can see them continuing to rise and rise until of course there is eventually a recession or market crash, but again I think a few years after that event they will still be dominant companies, but please give me a good reason to sell these stocks, because I am struggling to justify selling some of them again. I do not need this money for a min 20 years and do not shy from risk.

Also, I have cash available even if I don't sell anything, any recommendations for 2-3 stocks to finish the portfolio ? TD or BNS or both would be adequate? I don’t have an appetite for an energy/oil company, or mining at this time..
Here are the rest of my stocks (SHOP – 5%, BRK – 5%, XYL – 5%, GSY – 5%,TOY – 5%, SIS – 5%, PBH – 5%, PHO – 4%, KXS – 3%, TSGI – 2.5%, GC – 2.5%, SPOT – 2.5%, RHT – 3%, COV – 3%).

Thank you!
Mike

Q: I am not understanding why NFLX would be caught up in the tech slide. It's more of a media than a tech stock, no? In any case, these large cap techs with high valuations seem to be suffering disproportionately. I am down considerably from the highs but still up nicely on both of these and am seriously considering getting out now. Do you think that would be a mistake?

Q: I want to invest 20 K USD into my TFSA portion of US stocks.
I already have FB 3.6%,SHOP 6.1%,CGNX 5.1%,AMZN 3.3%,NVDA 4.7%, SQ 4.7%.
Im thinking of buying MA & NFLX. Please provide me with an idea of 2 or 3 additonal
US stocks with growing trend like the one I mentioned in my portfolio. What is your
opinion of adding MA & NFLX in contest of my existing US portfolio.

THANKS ANDREW.

Q: Dear 5i
How does the earnings growth look for DIS , NFLX , ATVI , EA and CAT over the next 2 years ? Is the gaming space a good place to be . This seems to be a popular and growing area .
Thanks

Q: Thanks for your recent reply -- but I think my question was misunderstood.

While I thank you for the recommendations on SQ, CGNX and ALGN, they are all in the Technology sector, which is something I would like to move away from at this time.

Even if I retain a 5% position in Netflix, Nvda and Shopify, that would bring me to a 15% in my portfolio, which I think 5I suggests should be a good enough weighting at this time.

Could you please provide a few names, with good growth, outside of tech? Your favourites?

Please deduct as many points as is required -- as I've got lots in store. : ) Sorry for being such a pest, but I suppose my first question was misunderstood?

Thank you!

Q: I am wanting to sell partial positions in each of these. They have become dangerously overweight in my portfolio and am looking to take profits in order to reinvest in other companies/sectors -- either in Canada or US. ADRs would also be acceptable. While I see huge growth in the technology sector, I think I would like to move away from it, since my weighting in this sector is also "dangerously overweight" ... at almost 25%.

(It's hard to move away from something that's giving you such good returns!)

1. Which 3 stocks might you suggest for equal/similar torque?

2. What is a good weighting for the above stocks? All of them have reached the 7 percent range, and even to me it sounds a bit risky.

Thanks for your advice.

Q: Hi Folks,

I'm interested in purchasing 1 or 2 of the FAANG stocks for a long term hold. How would you rank them at this time? Do you consider all to be good buys at today's prices?

Thanks as always...

Great website.
Thanks
