Q: Buffet likes to invest in companies with a moat and hold long term. He has a position in SNOW. Some analysts are calling into question the moat of SNOW. Do you know if SNOW has a decent moat or are they in what is essentially a commodity type business, in which case their margins will be eroded over time?

Thanks.

Q: My tech stocks have had a great run and it's time to trim as they are now about 33% of my portfolio. Can you please rank the above stocks along with SMCI (watching for a pullback in that one). I also have GOOG and AMZN. Do you think they are too closely related as well?

Q: Hello, I recently sold my rental property in 2022, and I now have funds sitting in the bank, earning interest. My ultimate goal is to invest this money wisely and create a portfolio that can serve as an inheritance for my loved ones. I am currently in the process of assembling a collection of high-quality stocks.

For me, the presence or absence of dividends is not a decisive factor when selecting stocks. Could you kindly recommend two top-performing stocks in each sector of the global market? These core holdings will play a crucial role in achieving my long-term financial objectives.

As of now, I have already purchased shares in NVIDIA (NVDA), Meta, Intuitive Surgical (ISRG), Alphabet (GOOGL), Canada: Goeasy (GSY), Nuvei (NVEI), Definity Finacial (DFY), Boyd Group(BYD), Thomson Reuters (TRI), Aritzia (ATZ), and Nutrien (NTR).

Thank you in advance for your valuable insights.

These stocks are in my wife's US Riff account
What US stock or stocks would you recommend as an addition to this list?
She is overweight in both finance and tech in her Canadian Riff so looking for alternative suggestions with some growth and a modest dividend?

Q: How would you rank these four in terms of 1) current valuation 2) safety of invested funds (kind of related to current valuation I guess) 3) anticipated investment return over the next couple of years and overall quality of investment - ie. if you were to select only 1 or 2, in what order would you invest considering the overall quality/valuation of these companies? Thanks.

Q: I own 3 of the big 7, Apple, Amazon and Nvda and manage the positions for weighting. I would like to own Microsoft and/or Google. Please suggest if you think it's necessary to expand to one or both of these, and if better to have a half position in both, or full position in one or both considering the other holdings. Thanks!

Q: Dear Peter,

This is a very light hearted "question"!

Enjoyed watching your Stock market stories!

SMCI hit 1000 $ yesterday! I was at home watching Chris interviewing Peter!

Where was Peter when AAPL/MSFT/TSLA and others hit (split adjusted) 1000 $
More importantly where are you planning to be when NVDA hits 1000 $

There is an article begging to be written about 1000$ stocks and their history!!

Happy Family Day!

Q: Hi 5i,

There's been a lot of buzz lately about OpenAI/ChatGPT developing a new search engine that will compete with Googles. Also this will be partly functional inside Bing. Given the Google relies on highly Ad revenue, expecting users to scroll through searches, while this new engine would potentially by-pass this Ad revenue clicking, do you see this a game changing to Google?

Thx

Q: I have a many tech stocks in CDRs (msft.ne, aapl.ne, amzn.ne, goog.ne, nflx.ne). I’d like to slowly switch these to USD for more diversification - and because the holdings are big enough in some cases a sale would be ~1.5-2% of daily volume. This leads me to two questions - and I understand there is no crystal ball.

1) Is there a level of holdings / daily volume where an investor should make pause?

2) USD appears more expensive than usual and while short term may trend more expensive longer term there may be discounts. Given any headwinds would you consider converting to USD today or wait for better timing ?

Q: HI 5I,
A couple of questions, if I might. Please deduct accordingly.
First, regarding CDRs in general - in looking at the listed companies I note that the price of the CDR compared to the US share price for each company varies considerably. E.g.: For NVDA the CDR price is approximately 9.5% of the US price, for AAPL the CDR is approx. 14.9% of the US price, GOOG CDR is approx 17% of the US version, MSFT CDR comes in at about 7.40% of the US price, and the COST CDR is only about 4.7% of the US price.
Is this variance something that a purchaser of CDRs needs to bear in mind in any way or for any reason, or is it meaningless with regard to returns, and how does the significant variation between companies come about in the first place?
And secondly, could you rank the listed companies for total return over a one year period, accompanied by whatever commentary you choose to offer as to why you've ranked them as you have?
Thanks 5i,
Peter
