Q: Donald Trump is causing so much uncertainty in both Canadian and US markets. Canada might even go into a recession.

I know that you mentioned that we should not react to the Trump threat.

However, if I had to sell all my stocks and ETFs ($400k) and start from scratch today, what would be the top 20 stocks/ETFs ( US and/or Canadian) that that you would invest in.

Would you just buy SPY/ZSP.to/ VGT/ SCHG ETFs in the USA market for safety?

Fyi, I don't like bonds.

Q: I have several 'Growth' companies which have grown quite large in both Cdn and US markets (Thanks). While I plan to let winners run, I am looking to take some capital out of those, and shift to areas of the market which are trading below their historical averages. Could you suggest some areas of both US and Canada to look for those areas? (Specific companies or ETFs which would target this both welcome)

Q: 1) My 20 ry old son wants to invest his money and seems to have high risk tolerance.. I'm generally more confident in the US mkt rather than the CDN. Is he better off...
a) transferring his CN money into US and taking the 24% hit and selling in 10 years the exchange rate might be...?
b) buying US stocks in their CDN version which is usually hedged?
c) or buying a US stock in a CDN acct and losing the exchange fee when buying and selling?

2) Can you pick 6 stocks that you think should do well for the next 5 years?

Q: I'm up 24% on ABBV in my cash account - down almost 50% since Trump was elected. It is currently a half position. I also hold ISRG in the same cash account at a 1.75% position. Considering selling ABBV and investing proceeds in ISRG, increasing this holding to 4.25%. (My other health holding is CLBT at a 2.5% weight in my TFSA.) Given tax implications/risk, what would you do?

Q: I have some cash that I would like to put to work and I have small positions that I would like to reduce. My main objective is growth with a bias towards low beta equities at this time in my work life. I am about 4 years away from my planned retirement.

These are most of my held equities along with weightings. NVDA 13.3% CSU 6.4% BN 6.4% SAN 5.4% SHOP 4.8% CRWD 4.3% TOI 3.8% VRT 3.4% ENB 3.2% BIP-UN 2.6% BEP-UN 2.3%. The following are 1-2% positions 13.5% as group; COST TD ATZ BNS AMZN TTD PANW PRL BRK.B. The rest are< 1%/each approx 10% as group BCE ASML HPS-A TMDX ISRG TMO GSY ASPN DELL SNOW NXT.

I plan on continuing to hold most of these positions including the smaller positions (<2% positions). I would like to reduce the number of these smaller holdings.
Could you please rank these smaller positions with the keepers at one end of the spectrum to goers at the the opposite end of the spectrum.

Thanks for this.

Q: Hi Team,
If I want to do the responsible thing and trim my overweight NVDA holdings; what names would you recommend me going into with the funds? Preferable a name with decent valuation with a higher prospect of considerable gains over the next few years, not something that is fully valued. Or is it a time to invest in something like CASH and wait for a pullback in markets? I was thinking either ISRG, CLBT, or BKNG. However, your response regarding ISRG to Garth today caught me a bit by surprise. You seemed to have turned from buying ISRG to hold off for now on valuation. I suspect the same could be said for many names that have ran up recently.

If CLBT is an option can you also give a brief lowdown of the company. Is there any concern it being based in Israel? Is the opportunity for high growth probable with this company? I am not real familiar with the name other than knowing you have lately been recommending it. Also is it a huge overhang that the CEO is leaving at year end?

Thanks,
shane.

Q: Hi Peter

I have been holding onto this stock on the assumption that AI would soon enable MDT to market or otherwise exploit their massive amount of product research data and information. Am I too optimistic ? I'd very much appreciate any insights you may have on this, and whether you think its worthwhile to hang on because of this thesis, or move on to a "growthier" stock, such as ISRG.

My other question is about Neo Financial. I see that Tobias Lutke and others have contributed in the second (?) round of financing, which to me means that Neo is quite promising. Do you have any info from your sources on Neo's disruption potential, when an IPO could be expected, etc. ?

Thank you kindly.

Ps. We benefitted alot today from the jump in price of shopify, thanks to you.

Q: The following stocks are all up nicely: AXON, PANW, NVDA, COST, ISRG, META, TTD and CRWD. All are mid size positions in my portfolio. Where do you see the markets going in January? Would you recommend trimming any of these stocks? Would you suggest holding more cash going into the new year? Thank you
