Q: A recent Globe & Mail article listed a few examples of medical technology stocks. One could add others - ISRG. Could you comment on this sub-sector and recommend your top 2 or 3 Cdn and US stocks for long-term, and what is it about these that stands out in terms of unique contribution to healthcare and reduced healthcare costs.

Q: I know U.S. markets are not your focus but any help would be great. I am looking for some suggestions on growth holdings in a TFSA USD for a long term hold 5-10 years. Currently in the account V, FB, BRK.B I am not a fan of dividend paying US holdings in the account due to the 15% robbery from the US government in non registered accounts. I am looking for something with stability and top in their industry. I have thought about CRM or SQ but other suggestion would be great. Thanks again for the great service

Q: I enjoyed your piece in the Globe comparing FAANG to DOCKS. Not considering weightings, could you provide 5 US stocks where you currently see "FAANG" like potential?

Q: Hi 5i,

I own all the above in the healthcare sector. After reading many comments on JNJ, I am getting a bit concerned. Would you continue to hold on or would you replace it with something else in the same sector? It is inside an RSP so no tax for selling and it is a long term hold as I do t need the money for over a decade.

TIA!

Q: On the US side of my portfolio I am going to be cautious about what I add. I will get an opinion from you before making a purchase. My last recent purchase which I watched for quite some time (Netflix), made the purchase, and 2 days later it was down $75.00 per share and it does not seem to be making a recovery. I am thinking of selling Netflix and along with some US cash I have, and I will list some US stocks that look good to me. APO, NOW, ISRG, OKTA, BIIB and SFTBY. Out of these, which ones would you purchase? Thanks again, Dennis

Q: Hi !
In the event of a significant market sell-off, which U.S. stocks would be on top of your list for good value with superior growth potential in the short term and in the long term ?

Have a good day,

Q: Greetings,
I see you believe ISRG to be one of the best managed companies in the US. I take that as a strong recommendation! Are they managed similar to CSU ie they don’t issue stock and the executives are made to purchase company shares? They appear to have little competition so I conclude they must develop their own technology instead of buying other companies to acquire their technology. How would you asses their growth - is it driven primarily due to organic growth or acquisitions? They appear to have a large cash hoard - are they buying back shares, planning to introduce a dividend or keeping it in reserve for acquisitions? You note growth is likely to be muted for the next 2 to 3 years so, all things being equal, is it reasonable to expect the share price to languish for the next 24 months or so?
Thanks
Jim

Q: Our son is 14 and his RESP is about $80K. It owns Amazon, Facebook, Nvidia, Alphabet (equally) and Knight (24%), reflecting his lifestyle and my faith in GUD. Can you temporarily overlook weighting, etc. and suggest one more US stock with some potential torque for a 5 year hold? Risk is not a factor. If this account craters, he will still get any education he aspires to before he heads out on his own...
Thank you.
