Q: Hello! When examining my portfolio there are definitely areas that are working and areas that clearly are not like emerging markets, gold, and high growth tech. These are a much smaller portion of my portfolio. However, does it make sense to exit these areas if one can get out with no loss/minimal loss and reallocate the money to something like Sunlife, Enbridge, BCE, etc.. if one also needs dividend income. The reason for owning gold, emerging markets/international equity and high growth was for diversification but if primary reason for investing is income/stability I'm just wondering if it makes any sense at all to own these other clearly more risky areas. Thanks and I look forward to your expertise!

Q: Hi 5i Team - Could you provide some insight into the shortage of chips and the disruption this is causing. In particular is the lack of supply due to raw materials and if so which materials, manufacturing capabilities, transportation holdups, or any other factors. Also do you have an educated guess as to approximately when the situation could start to ease up. Thank you.

Q: Please list around 5 TECH stocks that you like in US or CAD that are not 'expensive' when compared to the high fliers with little to no earnings. Please exclude the FB, GOOG, APPL, AMZN, NVDA and MSFT.
Thank you.

Q: Hi, I have owned Intel for many years but lately it has been a disappointment, I sold half my position last year and purchased AMD which has done well. What's your advice, should I sell INTC and purchase SOXX or NVDA or continue to hold it, looking for the best growth prospects.

Thx

Q: Given the recent run up in certain semi conductor and chip stocks, would it be prudent to use an ETF such as SMH to better diversify risk right now if only one position available in a portfolio? Or, going the individual stock route, how would you rank the following in a moderate risk portfolio QCom, AVGO, TXN, NVID, AMD, SWKS, INTC?

Q: Following up on your recent comments on Intel.
With there plans to build 2 new plants in the USA and the Congress in the process of passing a bill that would provide partial funding for these plants, at the current price and PE in single digit, is there not potentially great value at this price over the next few years? Plus a yield at 3% while you wait! I understand they are not the greatest growth play, but they are Intel? What am I missing??

Q: Hi 5i Team - Are there any Canadian companies in the semi-conductor space that would be of interest to you, including start-up companies, suppliers of materials, and any potential companies on the horizon. I sold my shares in Photon Control some time ago and am looking for some kind of replacement on the Canadian side. If the U.S. is the only way to go in this field could you please suggest a couple of top picks. l already have Nvidia. Thanks.

Q: Hi Peter and crew. I know that US tech companies are "not in your wheel house" and I also know that you have great insight. so I am interested in your opinions on the following.
I am watching that both Rivian and Global Foundries Inc. are applying to the SEC this fall to go public. Both appear to be in a good space for long term trends/needs. I am interested in long term investing in these companies when they come to market.
Thoughts?
BTW - Peter, Loved the article in the FP about your father-in-law. Maybe the 2 above companies will give him " the action" he is looking for!

Q: Can you please list 10-20 conservative high dividend paying companies that you would recommend. US or Cdn. Thank you.

Q: I would like to add some companies to my portfolio that pay dividends which are relatively secure and have debt levels that you think are manageable. I'd go so far as to say low debt levels, but that might exclude some companies that you think can manage a bit more debt. If possible, it would be helpful if you could suggest 6 Canadian and 6 American companies that fit the above criteria. Thanks as always for your valued opinion.

Q: Hi,
I read an article called “The World Relies on One Chip Maker in Taiwan, Leaving Everyone Vulnerable” that appeared on the WSJ.

Apart from TDM, NVDA & INTEL, are there any others names in the industry that you could share or recommend?

Thanks,

Q: Given 92% of the world's leading edge chips are manufactured in Taiwan, and China's accelerating efforts to retake the island, what companies would benefit if the US decides to build capacity in semiconductors?
Any Canadian candidates?
